Annunsi
I've been bashing around an idea for my own chapter for a while now. And since I've always liked the more ferocious chapters, the release of C:SW gives me a great opportunity. The reason I think the Wolves rules will fit is that my Chapter will be based on panther imagery. I can simply modify all the wolf stuff and be good to go. As far as my force's background, all I've been able to come up with is something like thier homeworld being opposite of Fenris, ie..a very dangerous jungle world paralleling the Space Wolves home. Beyond that, and the imagery(as art is my gift, not writing :jaw: ), I'm at a loss to explain how they came to be. So if any of you writer types, with a bit more insight into the workings of how Chapters are founded came give me some suggestions, I'd be very greatful. Growler67
Perhaps a paralleling world closer to Catachan rather than Fenris. Jungle world in the same or nearby system to the Jungle world of the Imperium. The jungle cat/feline imagery would fit well. Perhaps fluffing it up to be chosen by the Astartes for service leaving the Catachan world to that of the Imperial Guard. Perhaps make it a second founding of another Chapter to incorporate a way of getting/developing a geneseed. Since there have not been any sucessful second foundings of the SW Chapter since the one attempt ended badly and was never repeated. Perhaps the red Scorpions but instead of the dessert environment it was adapted to the jungle one on (whatever you name your Homeworld). Instead of Fenresian Wolves, you might consider some Hordes Felix models as proxies. Sabertooth cats of decent size. Not sure if you play tournaments or not, but they wouldn't be legal if you did. Orange-ish with a little white for highlights and possibly some tiger stripes for a general pattern. Maybe leapoard spots if you are so inclined to separate troops from elites or whatever. Lots of possibilites to explore. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181414-concept-for-a-space-wolf-type-chapter/#findComment-2147664 Share on other sites
Arraken
I guess it depends on how shallow/deep you want the background to be. I would not aim for a splinter/founding of the actual Space Wolves, but instead a Codex Chapter that may have gone a bit independent depending on circumstance. Maybe the codex bound them a bit to much in the wars they fought, maybe a mutation in their gene seed has made them more aggressive? Have them on a jungle death world where panther like creatures are king predators. The natives worship those animals as gods, so it would be easy for a space marine to to slip into that persona, ala Sky Warriors of Fenris, since they are capable of killing one. Something along those lines? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181414-concept-for-a-space-wolf-type-chapter/#findComment-2147680 Share on other sites
Annunsi
That's cool Arraken, thanks. I know that other than "Lost Companies", doing SW slinters are kinda difficult to explain, so i was trying not to go that route. I'll start with what you've given as a basis(thank you again), and once I finalize how I want the list to look(so many options with C:SW), i think I'll be able to flesh out the background a lot more. Now to pull out the sketch pad and do up some designs.
