Custodian Athiair
I would just like to make a very brief point about condraction within the ranks of Games Workshop. basically my point is this, i have read almost everywhere that the Force Weapons (or in this case Runic Weapons) were the bane of the deamon, weapons that becuase they were linked to the warp could banish deamons really effectivly. But until now they always did worse against deamons then normal mortal things, becuase deamons ignored instant death (the main point behind Force Weapons) but now with the new Space Wolve 'dex, they have changed this and now say that Runic Weapons always wound deamons on a 2+, which now proves the point behind the fluff. so why didn't Games Workshop do this earlier? with the Space Marine codex? right thats my rant over now over to you guys Athiair :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181498-gw-finally-seeing-sense/ Share on other sites
Hfran Morkai
Because the Wolves are famed for fighting Daemons? Space Marines can have Eldar and the wussy Tau and let the real men deal with Chaos, OK? Hehe Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181498-gw-finally-seeing-sense/#findComment-2148622 Share on other sites

Aeddon
The Daemonhunters' force weapon can still kills 'em in one shot. It's just all the other Space Marine chapters that suck! :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181498-gw-finally-seeing-sense/#findComment-2148727 Share on other sites
Custodian Athiair
how can the deamonhunters one kill them in one hit, surely it's a force weapon which can cause instant death on a successful psychic test? nothing special and i agree with that comment about Space Wolves deal with the real chaos stuff (i mean they live right next to the EYE OF TERROR!!!) Athiair :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181498-gw-finally-seeing-sense/#findComment-2148798 Share on other sites
Hfran Morkai
Daemonhunters dex simply says remove model. It doesn't cause instant death, like our Jaws of the World Wolf power. Athiair :D Because the Daemonhunter force weapon doesn't cause "Instant Death" it causes the opponent to be "Slain outright". Grey Mage
Daemonhunters dex simply says remove model. It doesn't cause instant death, like our Jaws of the World Wolf power. Yep, as Aeddon and Mikal here have stated... it doesnt say "inflicts instant death". So theres also the Eldar Diresword- wich with one exception is on a S3 model *wince*. And the Eldar Wraithgaurd, who "slay outright" on a 6 to wound. There might be something in C:DE, but I dont believe so. WG Vrox
Fluff wise I am sure it's the Runes themselves that give added power to the weapon against demons. Aeddon
Fluff wise I am sure it's the Runes themselves that give added power to the weapon against demons. Vrox On top of that our chapter is so close to the Eye of Terror that it would make more sense for us to be better equipped against daemons. I'm just waiting for my first battle against daemons or CSM, it's gonna be great! Imperialis_Dominatus
i mean they live right next to the EYE OF TERROR!!! So do the Astartes Praeses. And I'm sure a few Chapters guard the Maelstrom (aren't the White Scars awful close)... that's a fair bit of War/realspace interaction. tl;dr: all force weapons should gib Daemons. Oldenhaller
the DA's are pretty close....but they embrace the chaos using familiars and the like ;) ~O Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181498-gw-finally-seeing-sense/#findComment-2151604 Share on other sites
Vassakov
Actually, it's for fluff reasons. Rune Priests aren't "true" psykers in the normal sense of the words. They are older, different - and stronger. The power of a Rune Priest comes from the ability to channel nascent warp energy though tribal fetishes from Fenris into an elemental attack. More interestingly, a psychic hood works by allowing a psyker to go "Warp-power-to-warp-power" in an attempt to prevent a psyker bringing his powers to bear. A Runic Weapon has an effect more akin to the Pariah Gene or a hexagrammic ward - dispelling the power rather than fighting it. The best analogy I can think of is a Coal Fired Power Station vs a Nuclear one - the results are pretty much the same, but the method, skills and side effects are wildly different. NB: I too feel NFW should have a "Wounds Daemons on a 2+ rule.
