Redbaron997
I (like many players) have been toolling around with the new Bear lord (Eithier Terminator or Runic Armour) Thunder Hammer and Storm Shield Saga of Bear WTN & WTT 230 with eithier armour He deffinetly gets major awesome sauce points, but I am wondering how he is actually fairing though? Hes tough for sure, but sacrificing those I5 kills are gonna mean more attacks are coming at him, and on that turn where he is gonna die he will most likely die before you get his attacks, meaning you got an assault phases less than if you had been using I5. So is he just for looks and cool points, or is he actually performing well? Wolf Guard Hengist
They are quite tough but I think a slighty cheaper option gets you more bang for your buck. I came to this conclusion when my Lone Wolf set up exactly like you mentioned took more flak and did more damage than the Wolf Lord (and proved harder to kill) Having said that I will probably give him more of a chance before I makemy mind up for sure. HERO
I don't know. I just don't like wasting the I5 on the Lord. FB/SS, Runic Armor, Saga of the Bear. Zemox
Personally i would probably just take arjac if i was taking a lord with TH/SS, but if you dont use SCs this is your best bet if you have to take the TH. But i agree, FB/SS is probably a better combo with saga of the bear and WTN and runic armor. Grimtooth
Wolf claw and storm shield on that Bear Lord. I think that would be the way to go for a eternal warrior wolf lord to wade through MEQ. littlbitz
I've been using the following: Wolf Lord, on a bike with Thunderhammer, Stormshield and Saga of the Bear. He has been working well enough, though I don't like losing the Initiative on the bike. I am thinking of switching to either a Frost Blade, or a single Wolfclaw with meltabombs, and try that. stinkenheim
i often play an ork army with a big helping of power klaws and walkers. with my force being relatively light on heavy weapons (1 missle launcher long fang pack and a predator being the norm) i take lot of power fists/thunder hammers. my lord has a thunder hammer storm shield combo as do his retinue and they don't die quickly. i might lose the I of my lord, but i find that when fighting nobs especially his thunder hammer is a real blessing (instant death) so whilst it might not be to everyones liking i won't switch it out... besides its taken me over a year to convert this guy so i may as well use him :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181509-bear-lord-reviews/#findComment-2148889 Share on other sites
Redbaron997
I am thinking of putting him with 4 TLC terminators, as they can help cut through hordes easier and because or TH&SS Termies are very expensive. maligncomedy
Saga of Bear Thunderwolf Mount Runic Armor Storm Shield Wolf Tail Talisman Wolf Claw ^ He seems to take a ton of punishment, and runs great in the mini-nob biker squad set up for Thunderwolf Calvary. Redbaron997
After a playtest I have reached the conclusion that wasting the I5 is not good. So I changed to: HQ- Wolf Lord @ 230 - Runic Armour - Frost Axe - Storm Shield - Saga of the Bear - Wolf Tooth Necklace - Wolf Tail Talisman - Melta Bomb I am only worried that I am spending alot of points for an average of 2.24 MEQ kills on the charge....thats seems a bit low even when he is tough as nails. HERO
For that amount of points, you might as well pick up Ragnar and just fight battles that you know you'll win. I would keep him as cheap as possible: Runic Armor FB/SS Saga of the Bear Btw, why do you have Wolf Tail talisman when you have Runic Armor already? Ullr Direfang
so far i have only toyed with warrior born. i am not 100% on board with eternal warrior, so i would rather have my lean mean killing machine be even more of a killing machine. Wolf Tail Talisman protects the squad as well while Runic Armour only protects the wearer. Why are people taking Saga of the Bear with a Thunderwolf Mount? Ultraboy: Ultramarine Librarian- I use my force weapon *rolls psychic test* Me:Wait, Ive got a rune priest *measures* yep, within 24" *rolls 3* dang it. Ultraboy: Ok, so Ive got three attacks... hitting twice and wounding twice! Nice. Me: Wait, that psychic power is affecting my squad, I have a WTT *rolls a 4* dang it. Ultraboy: Bye-bye wolf lord. Me: Not yet, Ive still got my runic armor... 5++ save go! *rolls 2 5s* Yeah... cool. Ultraboy: How many saves was that? Me: 3, now if youll look in my codex.... Of course, a stormshield would work better against most things, but there are a couple psychic powers that ignore invulnerable saves... and Im not sure runic armor could save them either. HERO
Just a refresher: You can have a Wolf Lord with Runic Armor, TH/SS with WTN, WTT, Saga of the Bear that can now sweeping advance with the rest of your dudes.
