ServantofRuss
Hey guys, I noticed that in the new space wolves set there are some arms that are one handing boltguns. Is this purely for show or do they get an extra attack in the assault phase for having two weapons? Just need some clarification before I put them together, thanks! Hfran Morkai
Grey Hunters have bolter, bolt pistol and close combat weapon as standard. They have all three weapons which means you can rapid fire your bolters for a turn if you're footslogging then assault next turn with three attacks each or you can blast away and hope you get charged, taking down as many with firepower then counter attacking (hopefully) giving you three attacks again. So they always have two attacks (unless equipped with powerfist) and will normally have three in any first round of combat, and the best thing is guys with special weapons still keep bolt pistol and close combat weapon. ServantofRuss
Ok, so no matter what I equip the models with, they all have boltgun, bolt pistol, and a close combat weapon as standard? Whatever I put on the models is just for show? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181511-grey-hunters/#findComment-2148827 Share on other sites

Whatever I put on the models is just for show? Yep. Because they don't expect you to model everything, otherwise every normal marine needs a grenade pouch and bolt pistol. WYSIWYG really only applies to non-standard equipment, you can use any bits so long as you don't represent a powerfist with a chainsword. Hrathnar Flintfang
This actually brings up an interesting point. I think someone needs to take a few of those chaos 'gunblades' and do some work taking off the chasoy stuff so a few of our pups can one hand bolter/CCWs. Granted I really don't like FF8 that much, but I think it would be rather cool to have a wolf trying to Cosplay Squall, if only so he can be the one pack member the others pick on. Kenmichi
I try to model WYSIWYG across squads and not necessarily each individual model. IE: A few of my Grey Hunters are using a BP and chainsword with a bolter slung across his back. Some Grey Hunters have a holstered bolt pistol, and every model has at least one combat knife. As a whole this sort of represents their wargear very well I think, it also fits into a theme my wolves portray. They're an armored company constantly on the move so they carry with them what they need, always. Which means my tanks are going to be loaded down with gear. Hopefully it'll be as visually appealing as it is in my head once my army is completed or has at least 1500 points! muzzyman1981
One of the main reason we get the "one handed Bolters" is cause Wolves are showy and our models typically have more "motion" than rank-and-file from most other Chapters who follow the Codex Astartes. Also likely a throw back to our old Codex when we had True Grit.
