X-Slash-X
Hey guys, I know this has probably been asked elsewhere, but I can't seem to find it amidst the sea of questions swarming this board at the moment. When purchasing Special/Assault Weapons for a 10 man Grey Hunter squad, how do you work out the cost? I know is says If the squad numbers ten models, a second Grey Hunter may replace his bolter with a weapon from the above list at no additional cost, but which of the two weapons would be free? For example, say I purchased a Flamer for the squad first, which is free anyway. Then I decided that the second weapon would be a Meltagun. Would that mean that I now have two special weapons for free, or would the rules lawyers say that the Meltagun should be paid for, due to the Flamer being free already. It may sound like an obvious question, but it seems open for exploitation due to the second being free, regardless of what was purchased first. This could mean saving X points on a Plasma Gun by simply saying 'It's my second weapon', and leaving it at that. What do you guys think? Is it exploiting the system by doing this, could it even be seen as unsportsmanlike? 40k Junkie
Yes the meltagun is free if you buy the flamer first. "No additional cost" being the key wording. 0+0=0 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181583-grey-hunter-specialassault-weapons/#findComment-2149404 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
Its an odd loophole, but thats how it is. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181583-grey-hunter-specialassault-weapons/#findComment-2149419 Share on other sites
Hrathnar Flintfang
I think it was an intentional loophole though. Honeslty there is no reason not to take a free flamer at least if you want some gear beyond the normal bolter and chain sword. hehe. But once you hit 11 men you reach a problem. You can have 10 normal GH, and not attach wolf guard, and put them in a Rhino, and drive around with a flamer and free plasma or just two plasmas or other such. Or you can add a GH, and then the only transport you can get would be an LRC or LRR which is not cheap. Then again you can also footslog with a GH, but people seem to dislike that in 5th. And naturally the last option, you can buy a rhino, hide behind it and wait for someone to die. Either way simply buying 10 marines has a small choice to make for the player, and the flip side of that is you can get any of the weapons you want free.
