The Last Stand

Ok, I've gotten in a couple rounds of it, it's not too shabby. Just wish my desktop still worked, my laptop struggles to keep the framerate and lag at decent levels.

The trailer video was neat, though the animation for it was pretty terribad. Seriously looked like a first-year student's work.

Are the heroes supposed to have flexible roles through equipment at higher levels? So far the Captain (at lvl 5) seems to be the front line brute hand to hand fighter, but since he does have a bolter as a wargear option I'm wondering if he'll get access to heavy ranged firepower if you want to play it that way.

...terminator armor would make my day.

If it's free then I'll give it a go, sounds like a reason to return to DoW2 (got bored of it real quick when I continuously got whooped badly, played techmarine against tyrant: got kicked in, played tyrant vs. techmarine against the same guy (me being tyrant): got my rear kicked. I still need to get to grips with all the new fangled 'tactics' milarky, just can't throw thousands of guard at it and win which is quite refreshing)

Yes it's free. I can see why people could get bored with the normal multiplayer, I'm just not that competitive.

Concerning the SM captain, the only problem I have with him is that is is so slow compared to the other two. Of course, this is probably to balance him against the others.

I grouped tonight with a much higher level Marine Captain. He had a jump pack and was zipping all over the place. Of course I was a Mekboy and was using that ability that recharges a teammate's energy, which helped him go a little crazier than normal.

I'm really enjoying this game mode. It seriously requires teamwork. You can fight away from your teammates for the first few waves, but afterwards lack of cooperation is quick death. It's been pretty fun finding new tactics and combinations of abilities. If the game mode manages to remain fun after several weeks then I'd certainly enjoy seeing it expanded with new arenas/equipment/heroes.

well would play it but lack of friends hurts, if anyone cares to find me for a game give me a message on B&C just so I ain't messing around too much, my name is CM454MD (this for those who like to know why people chose this is a really long title, the first and last letter are my names intials, the two Ms are a name of a character I have made)

I've given it a good go (2 games really :)) and it is quite enjoyable. Yes I died at wave 9 too - too many banshees ^_^ though I did manage to knock most of them flat using that charge ability the SM Captain has.

I was hoping to use more than one character from each army but hey, I can make do. The Captain can easily become a force to be reckoned with when he gets the right wargear and stats.

Wait till you get to wave 16, your dopplegangers appear and kicks your ass's. I've made it past them once then got squisheed by fex's in 17, and yes, you do get better ranged weapons for the captain, namely a plasmagun (what I use the most) and then a plasmacannon. You can beat the banshees by hiding in the buildings AFTER you take out the grav platforms ( use the jump pack to avoid suppression and jump on 'em) and and most of the warp spiders, area attacks are a big help against the banshees too, but if you get caught by too many of them you're screwed.

It seems like the key to wave 9 is crowd control. I've pulled it off pretty easily with a few characters who can knock stuff all over the place, and give some breathing room. I'm stuck on the 4 wraithlord wave now.

We've used the two garrison buildings to good effect. They're good for hiding from melee enemies, but if there are too many decent ranged attackers they just shoot you out a little slower than normal. And is it just me, or do you regenerate health faster than normal inside one of the buildings?

Somehow my and my team-mates (no idea who) got through wave 9. Two of us where SM Captains and beaten down fast. THe other guy was an ork Mekboy with a nice gun since it dakka'd them banshees to pulp :P So we made it through...

Into some scary SM hellhole :D Since when did SM squads get THREE plasma guns? There were loads of them :D We only lost mind you since they threw grenades into the buildings which killed the mekboy and we all lost. Darn plasma guns :)

got to wave 19, thats when the blood ravens appear so be careful. Got hammered but the doppelgangers are easy if you know what to do, I use my bouncy shield to knock one away from the group while the others wail on the other two. Carnifexs aren't the problem, it's whats shooting you and same goes for wave 18 with the orks. It's never the big guys that do the damage, it's the little minions he has.
