THQInsider
The Last Stand update hits tomorrow - what do you think of this? There's a video feature of this mode just gone up. Survival or high score? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181648-the-last-stand/ Share on other sites
Hubernator
So is it possible to go at it alone? Even though it's not adivsed  And will it update the game I have currently installed already? Or do I have to reinstall it? THQInsider
I think there have to be three people - no AI. This will update the game if it's still installed  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181648-the-last-stand/#findComment-2151388 Share on other sites
Hubernator
At least I won't have to reinstall anything Sucks that you can't go solo. MY mates don't have the game yet ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181648-the-last-stand/#findComment-2151942 Share on other sites
Allerka
All PuGing for me, got no one to play with. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181648-the-last-stand/#findComment-2152156 Share on other sites
Allerka
Ok, I've gotten in a couple rounds of it, it's not too shabby. Just wish my desktop still worked, my laptop struggles to keep the framerate and lag at decent levels. The trailer video was neat, though the animation for it was pretty terribad. Seriously looked like a first-year student's work. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181648-the-last-stand/#findComment-2152243 Share on other sites
Sawtooth
I'm thinking about reinstalling DOW2 and giving this a try. Is each game always the Farseer, SM Captain, and Mekboy? Or can you have like three SM Captain's playing together? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181648-the-last-stand/#findComment-2152286 Share on other sites
Allerka
Yeah, you can pick any unit you want. Gotten about six games in so far. Can't get past Wave 9, all those blasted Banshees running around. People don't seem to want to stick together, either, bleh. I think I might have to dub it the "PuG Killer". Sawtooth
Well I tried it out, it's pretty fun. Played about 6 or 7 games tonight. I can't get past wave 9 yet either. I'm also ashamed to admit my favorite class is the mekboy. Something about that big cannon. UltraOrk
I think it is very fun. All three heroes have their pros/cons and are enjoyable to play. Also it seems that wave 9 is giving everyone problems. Now that i think about it I'll go give it another try... Sawtooth
Are the heroes supposed to have flexible roles through equipment at higher levels? So far the Captain (at lvl 5) seems to be the front line brute hand to hand fighter, but since he does have a bolter as a wargear option I'm wondering if he'll get access to heavy ranged firepower if you want to play it that way. ...terminator armor would make my day. chapter master 454
If it's free then I'll give it a go, sounds like a reason to return to DoW2 (got bored of it real quick when I continuously got whooped badly, played techmarine against tyrant: got kicked in, played tyrant vs. techmarine against the same guy (me being tyrant): got my rear kicked. I still need to get to grips with all the new fangled 'tactics' milarky, just can't throw thousands of guard at it and win which is quite refreshing) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181648-the-last-stand/#findComment-2153928 Share on other sites
UltraOrk
Yes it's free. I can see why people could get bored with the normal multiplayer, I'm just not that competitive. Concerning the SM captain, the only problem I have with him is that is is so slow compared to the other two. Of course, this is probably to balance him against the others. Sawtooth
Yes it's free. I can see why people could get bored with the normal multiplayer, I'm just not that competitive. Concerning the SM captain, the only problem I have with him is that is is so slow compared to the other two. Of course, this is probably to balance him against the others. I grouped tonight with a much higher level Marine Captain. He had a jump pack and was zipping all over the place. Of course I was a Mekboy and was using that ability that recharges a teammate's energy, which helped him go a little crazier than normal. I'm really enjoying this game mode. It seriously requires teamwork. You can fight away from your teammates for the first few waves, but afterwards lack of cooperation is quick death. It's been pretty fun finding new tactics and combinations of abilities. If the game mode manages to remain fun after several weeks then I'd certainly enjoy seeing it expanded with new arenas/equipment/heroes. chapter master 454
well would play it but lack of friends hurts, if anyone cares to find me for a game give me a message on B&C just so I ain't messing around too much, my name is CM454MD (this for those who like to know why people chose this is a really long title, the first and last letter are my names intials, the two Ms are a name of a character I have made) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181648-the-last-stand/#findComment-2154985 Share on other sites
Hubernator
I've given it a good go (2 games really :)) and it is quite enjoyable. Yes I died at wave 9 too - too many banshees ^_^ though I did manage to knock most of them flat using that charge ability the SM Captain has. I was hoping to use more than one character from each army but hey, I can make do. The Captain can easily become a force to be reckoned with when he gets the right wargear and stats. Audun
Wait till you get to wave 16, your dopplegangers appear and kicks your ass's. I've made it past them once then got squisheed by fex's in 17, and yes, you do get better ranged weapons for the captain, namely a plasmagun (what I use the most) and then a plasmacannon. You can beat the banshees by hiding in the buildings AFTER you take out the grav platforms ( use the jump pack to avoid suppression and jump on 'em) and and most of the warp spiders, area attacks are a big help against the banshees too, but if you get caught by too many of them you're screwed. Krieghammer
I only manage surviving to wave 15, and then get whooped... serious teamwork is needed to get past the 5 last waves.. (SM get a dread in drop pod at lvl 15.. that makes life a ot easier..) Sawtooth
It seems like the key to wave 9 is crowd control. I've pulled it off pretty easily with a few characters who can knock stuff all over the place, and give some breathing room. I'm stuck on the 4 wraithlord wave now. We've used the two garrison buildings to good effect. They're good for hiding from melee enemies, but if there are too many decent ranged attackers they just shoot you out a little slower than normal. And is it just me, or do you regenerate health faster than normal inside one of the buildings? Hubernator
Somehow my and my team-mates (no idea who) got through wave 9. Two of us where SM Captains and beaten down fast. THe other guy was an ork Mekboy with a nice gun since it dakka'd them banshees to pulp :P So we made it through... Into some scary SM hellhole :D Since when did SM squads get THREE plasma guns? There were loads of them :D We only lost mind you since they threw grenades into the buildings which killed the mekboy and we all lost. Darn plasma guns :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181648-the-last-stand/#findComment-2155729 Share on other sites

chapter master 454
got to wave 19, thats when the blood ravens appear so be careful. Got hammered but the doppelgangers are easy if you know what to do, I use my bouncy shield to knock one away from the group while the others wail on the other two. Carnifexs aren't the problem, it's whats shooting you and same goes for wave 18 with the orks. It's never the big guys that do the damage, it's the little minions he has. Heru
Wave twenty is absolutely evil (Chaos), and that wave even goes about resurrecting ALL the hero types you put down before... (the Dopples, the Ork Warlord etc...). Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181648-the-last-stand/#findComment-2167324 Share on other sites
Tfcdogbert
Question being has anyone gotten past wave twenty? I can usually get to it fairly reliably given some decent teamwork, but get onto it and the whole team just gets totally rolled very very quickly?
