Wolf Guards as Meatshields for Longfangs

I had another nice idea while flipping through the codex. What do you people think about adding a WG, possibly even with a stormshield, to a Long Fang unit to soak up some fire? this is probably only worth it if the enemy shoots the fangs with ap3+ weapons, but it might be useful from time to time especially against instant death shots. Sure, he is not cheap, but if he makes one save and fails another one in a game he has saved 2 LFs, more than his own point cost, from dying. Not to mention the improved leadership which might be helpful from time to time.

I plan on useing a set up some one posted with a WG inTDA armed with SB/CML and PW to add to my long fangs. adds some decent fire power and he can take the ap3 shots to help the long fangs out.

it used to be a way to add another wound to the squad but now it doesn't seem to be really smart unless you go termi and heavy weapon,

Long fangs are already leadership 9 , same as wolf guard . Also unless you give the guard termi armor and storm sheild and heavy weapon , its not that useful in taking at all
