IC assault rules

Okay, So When an IC enters assault it can be targeted individually. If he is in base to base contact with two models and 2 more models are able to engage him, and going first the IC kills 4 models, does the opposing player have to remove the 2 units in B2B with the IC and the 2 units able to engage him (thus keeping the IC free from reprial), or can the opposing player remove 4 units from the squad that was assaulted and leave those 4 models in range to attack the IC?

The units that can attack in a close combat are determined at the start of the combat, so it doesn't matter if your opponent removes the models in b2b (base to base) or models from the back (which he can do). You can cut down on the number of attacks that you're going to take, but you can't kill all of the models in b2b and not take any hits back.

Models are removed from the unit as a whole, it doesnt mater who killed them. No he does not need to remove the btb models if the IC kills models, any models may be removed as per wound aplication rules.

Which MODELS are engaged is determined at the start of combat yes. But you very much CAN kill all the models that are engaged before their initive step, and anything that dies before its initive step does NOT get to attack. Tyranids under catalist being the exeption. However as said earlier any wounds to a unit may be alocated to any model in the unit, regardless of weather those models where engaged with the IC or not.
