Blood Claws

Prototype

Recommended Posts

I was looking through the codex and realized that the normal Blood Claws didn't vary much in terms of price compared to their Jump Pack equivalents, and the bikes weren't too pricey either.

I was wondering, which one (or combination of them) would you guys use?

For the very small difference of points between the Jump Pack variants and the normal ground ones, you get a very dependable melee-delivery mechanism rather than relying on vehicles, but you dont get a WG, and you can't capture things with it. The bikes on the other hand seem pretty nice as well; less melee attacks for their points (because you have less bikes), but their shooting is fairly accurate due to twinlinked, and they are far tougher.

Many thanks!

As a BT player. when I saw something like a Crusader squad, it just jumped out at me. :P

15 BC with goodies. WP to impart Preferred Enemy and counter Headstrong.

That means BCs go from 50% hitting most things to 75%. Big jump. Being able to shoot at BS 3 effectively adds another A per mini. Pretty sweet way of maximising BC 'bang-for-buck'.

RUNNING marines do get there and your foe is pressured to do something about them - you control the tempo of the game. Even if they get hammered by shooting that has allowed the rest of your guys to do their thing unmolested. Win-win for you. :P

Bike and Jump Pack BC are good but it is expensive to give a Leader a bike/ jump-pack to get the most from your men.

I think games are won by TROOPS and if you can have sweet ones like BC, GH or Crusaders then all the better.

Inspiring point to make about the BCs being a large Troop selection.

The problem with 15 is that you'd probably have to buy a Crusader for them, because while I don't really doubt the issue of "getting into combat", its the matter of "whether you get the charge", which means something for the BCs due to their special charge attack bonuses, whereas if you use GHs you can get charged and really not worry much about it.

I might have to budget for a Crusader lol...

*If you have 15 BC + Priest and none have died yet:

Charging BC; 15 bp shots, 7.5 hit.

60 a, 45 hit.

COMBINED s4 hits = 52.5! :)

CHARGED BC; (probable counter attack, Ld 10)

45 a, 33.75 hit :)

CHARGED BC (with Priest) get 3 a. Charging Initiates also get 3 a (but they do get a bp shot, too).

People fear being charged by Crusader squads.

A charged BC squad is actually not far behind....

I'm not sure you have to feel a 'need' to have a LRC for BC/Priest combo to get a good return. They'll still do well.

The 'weak-link' is the Priest himself, who is not so flimsy anyway. Maybe Runic armour if you are feeling nervous. :)

When you get a boost from a IC, the more minis you can spread it over the better. BC are that candidate IMO.
