Grey Mage
All Space Marines are neutered... its part of the creation process. So actually, its successful initiates that are neutered, not just bloodclaws. WolfLordLars
Wait.. you sure about that? I thought that no human woman could survive an 'encounter' with a Space Wolf, which is why there are no hybrid wolf-babies running around Fenris. And since Female Space Marines dont exist in the 'official' fluff.... What was it? The conversation about Superman and Lois Lane having kids from the movie "Mallrats"? I wont post it here, being family friendly... but you get the idea. Grey Mage
Hehe... true enough. Of course theres also fluff that once the implants are taken out, you can "wake up" those parts again. Hrmm... something about the canis helix? Maybe bloodclaws arent neutered after all. SamaNagol
I think I will be running a 14 man pack with 1 fist, a WG with a fist and a Wolf Priest with Warrior Born. Will help me churn through pretty much anything in time to remount up in the LRC and move on to the next objective. WolfLordLars
Might as well bring 15 and get the free weapon. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181763-blood-claws-neutered/page/2/#findComment-2152648 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
Might as well bring 15 and get the free weapon. Couldnt fit in the crusader then. Skoll Brandulf
As fluffy as putting Ragnar wit BCs is I dont think its a good idea. You already get his charge bonus without him with the +2. I think his FC is better used with Wolf Guard or Grey Hunters (Depends if you want more special weapons or the wolf standard) I think they can and do have a place, but its hard to justify them over Grey Hunters because GH are just so amazing now. I do that mostly for the added 15 wounds for Ragnar  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181763-blood-claws-neutered/page/2/#findComment-2152659 Share on other sites
Night Runner
The only thing that irritates me about the BC pack is that they took away melta bombs from the pack. I would have allowed at least 2 models to take them. Otherwise I still think they are viable, even though I prefer SwiftC. Also, IMO I would have kept 2 special CC weapons and just one special weapon in order to vary with GH packs. (But then again does it make much sense for less experienced troops to have more rare weaponry?). Vassakov
I think the issue has already been addressed - that the Grey Hunters suddenly got a lot better whilst the Blood Claws became very slightly less effective. Still, my old unit of Blood Claws, a Wolf Priest and a Crusader will remain for now, though I suspect that they will be relegated to larger games as I use Grey Hunters more significantly. Still, they are no longer as good as they used to be - but most armies still fear them. And with damn good reason! Vilhelm
This has been beaten to death in at least three other threads that I know of. Blood Claws are no longer the under-priced studs they used to be, but they are still viable, especially with the wolf priest combo- If I had to put a number on it, my "gut calculus" tells me they are 85%-95% (very situational, of course) as cost effective as grey hunters- and this only highlights how good GH are. Luckily, Grey Hunters have now become the new under-priced studs, and frankly that more than makes up for having to pay more for less effective Blood Claws. I don't know if you have noticed, but we now have dirt cheap Skyclaws and Swiftclaws! This is a very welcome development. I have been rolling with 2 or 3 packs of Grey Hunters and a pack of Skyclaws in 1K-1.5K games. This is fluffy and effective- the best of both worlds. Just remember if you take Skyclaws, you won't be able to shoot before charging due to the "headstrong" rule- unless you kit them with a Jump Priest. I see this as not strictly necessary, as the only thing I miss is getting off a flamer shot- a handful of BS3 bolt pistols won't be doing much.
