Token
The heavy bolters are so cheap for the long fangs, so i wrote a list with 5 in one unit, then some anti tank/heavy creature weaponens, missile launchers and lascannons, in another. Is it better to mix them up or have one anti infantry and one anti tank/heavy creature? JamesI
Since Long Fangs can split fire, mixing them up is ok. Karack Blackstone
While it is easier to field one type per LF pack, it can have rewards if you find it easier to squeeze multiple roles into each squad. I use a pack of 5 HB's and a pack of 5 LasC's myself. dublindawg
Mixing them up will help against enemies that can pie plate your packs. If one is taken out then you still have the other pack for mixed firing. Thorgad
You can mix them up as much as you want, but there's a few things to keep in mind. As long as the sergeant in the squad isn't dead, you can fire at two different targets with each squad of Long Fangs, so mixing up the different types of weapons can be a good tactic. Say, for example, that you take wounds on the squad, you can allocate them on the heavy bolters if you need your longfangs to be anti-tank, and vice versa if you need them to be anti-infantry. Generally I'd say, if you have two or more squads of Long Fangs, I would mix them up. Unless of course you WANT more of a certain type of weapon. the great beaver
the other thing I like to do is kill off the non lascannon fangs first so mixing up your squads gives you semi-ablative wounds that make it harder for your enemy to pick off your lascannons. on the other hand if everyone in the squad is taking the same weapons then you can off the pack leader right away to save a heavy. greese_m0nkey
I have seen allot of peaple say the set of 2HB, 1ML, and 2LC is a good mix, you can use the ML for both tasks of anti personel and anti vech. PKAwolf
im will soon be testing 2 units but they are more focused mix's 3x LC 2x ML anti tank while the ML gives a lil flexability and 3x HB 2x PC anti horde while the PC can put the hurt on something tough Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181805-two-diiffirent-kind-of-heavy-weapons-in-one-long-fang-squad/#findComment-2151949 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
I try to take two of one kind, and two missile launchers. Why? Because MLs can atleast try to hurt anything in the game, and theyre cheap. Makes them the perfect pair to any other HW.
