White Hunter
So looking at all our Hq choices I was wondering what HQs you guys think are worth giving the saga of the warrior born to? Aeddon
Wolf Priest, with the rerolls you'd get the most bang for your buck. Wolf Guard Dan
I don't know about which. I would say atleast one per army unless you would rather give a wolf lord saga of the bear. Forseti
Most bang for your buck would be on a Wolf Lord with a Wolf Priest in same unit. Take either a frost blade or a Wolf Claw, reroll hits at +1 Strength or reroll hits and wounds. Coverfire
I don't think so personally, but then I make up my armies lists as balanced as I can so to fight anyone. If I knew I was facing a hoarde army then by all means I would give a Wolf Lord the Saga of the Warrior Born on a Thunderwolf Mount with Wolf Claws, Meltabombs and the Wolf Tooth Necklace, and Wolf Tail Talisman - (Does this save us from Force Weapons?) Or Perhaps I would just purchase Ragnar instead and have him charging out of a Land Raider My point is really that unless you are willing to spend 25pts for something you may not even use then you should probably use the points elsewhere. Grimmwulf
Might as well take Ragnar. You get insane bravado and that warcry for only 35 points. +w3 Attacks and furious charge make sure you get some kills to get up your number of attacks. Sure, not so nice as an additional wolfpriest but not so expensive either. Hrathnar Flintfang
Personally I would say the more normal attacks you can get the better the saga becomes. Wolf lord, 4 attacks right there as base. Give him a bolt pistol that's 5. Charging? well that puts you at 6. Wolf mount? that puts you at 7 PLUS a strength bonus. And then if you want to give him a frost axe and give up on rending, well, that would be a Str 6 WS 6 T5 3 wound close combat monster with the ability to dish out 6 or 7 attacks per turn WITHOUT the saga. Just imagine how many kills you can rack up with something like that. Granted its not nearly as useful against hard targets like Termies or Necrons, but hay that is what the Rune Priest is for. JotWW eats necrons, period. As for ragnar, well, why use him when you can make your own wolf lord... like that one! White Hunter
I have been looking at a rune priest with like 7 PA with Power weapons, would it be better to add warrior born to the priest, or better to add/upgrade some of the WG? Toasterfree
As for ragnar, well, why use him when you can make your own wolf lord... like that one! because then you would not have a s6 frost weapon on the charge. ive used ragnar now in just about every game with new dex, and he just wrecks house. he totally was awesome yesterday in a 1500 that i played against smurfs. for me if i wasnt going to take ragnar, i would give it to a battle leader. i dont want my lord to ID so im going to give it to a secondary. i like the wolf priest idea though, ill have to try that. EricBasser
Here's a question. You finish the assault in the enemy's turn. If you assault during your turn, do you still get the bonus attacks from the previous assault phase? Yeti
Here's a question. You finish the assault in the enemy's turn. If you assault during your turn, do you still get the bonus attacks from the previous assault phase? Yes, it's the previous assault phase. That's why you don't want to wipe out the unit you charged, so you can rack up kills in his turn and have the bonus for your turn. As to the OP. I'd only take it on a Wolf Lord or Wolf Priest. The lord has enough base attacks to let you rack up the kills. With the right special weapons (Frost blade or 2x Wolf Claws) you'll pack enough of a punch to get more than the +1 from a charge the next turn. The wolf priest has the re-roll to ensure that his few(er) attacks are most effective, but I find that he doesn't have the weapon options to make him "killy" enough. Even with 4 attacks on the charge, you're going to have trouble getting more than +1 or +2 attacks the next turn.
