Keercrevlis
My question is simple do you have to give every scout in a squad a sniper rifle or can you assign them different weapons? Toasterfree
you can upgrade them how you want to within the provisions given in the codex. if it says that you can upgrade one guy to this, the you can upgrade him to that. if it says you must give each model then you must give each model (ie melta bombs) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181942-scout-loadout/#findComment-2153498 Share on other sites
Keercrevlis
The codex reads: "Any model" may replace BP &/or CCW w/ Sniper Rifle......."x"pts per model. Where as the Melta Bomb says squad can at ......"x"pts per model. The only other one listed like this is the entry about the two guys that can take PP or PW. But it states "two" models. With the way the listing is I was not sure if it was implied that if one took a SR the whole squad had to also. chaplainmeliadus
"Any model" means invidual choice in every place I've seen it. The scouts in C:SM have "any model" and you're able to pick and choose, though generally most people to kit out everyone with the same option. One sniper rifle isn't likely to kill too much, but 10... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181942-scout-loadout/#findComment-2153527 Share on other sites
Toasterfree
then any model may replace for x and for the PP/PW up to two models may use that Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181942-scout-loadout/#findComment-2153528 Share on other sites

El Scotcho
If you so choose, you can add only one sniper rifle to the squad. A lot of people make all of them snipers because 'nilla Scouts BS is lower, so more shots down the board equals more hits, but it isn't as necessary for us, because our Scouts are fully trained battle brothers, and so have a higher ballistic skill. However, if your going to add one, you might as well add them all, since if the squad moves, the one guy with a sniper rifle is screwed, in my opinion at least. It is another interesting option for us, though I doubt it will be used very much, because most people use scouts as expendable tank killers. I had thought of maybe making a squad with rifles, and a squad without, so that when I'm playing Imperial Guard, I can have them go Behind Enemy Lines and use one to pin the enemy commander so he can't issue orders, and the other one to assault in the more traditional manner. Bonham1963
Weapons work as described by other posts. Remember, that camo cloaks are bought for the whole unit. This means you couldn't take 10, combat squad them and only give half of them camo cloaks. If you wanted one unit of 5 with camo and one unit of 5 without camo, then you would have to use up 2 troop choices. You are in the wrong forum; Wolf Scouts can't buy camo cloaks, and cannot Combat Squad either. dublindawg
An issue with taking 2 squads of scouts is you then limit yourself with only 1 slot to fit in either a pack of WG/dreadnaught/lone wolf or Iron Priest. By taking Grimnar you can resolve the issue for WG as they would count as troop selections. IMO wolf scouts with SR are great because of the BS, but it limits their movement and they don't get cloaks to get the inproved cover save. Besides wolves are more of an in your face fighters. Keercrevlis
Well, 1st Thanks for all the comments, didn't expect to get that many. 2nd, My idea was sorta simple I own 4 of the Wolf scouts and have a few "nilla" scouts w/ SR, thought about using a couple of the SR scouts in the squad to help take out or pin down opponets "Characters" after the squad has done its job taking down "tanks". Got the idea after playing a DE player. After my scouts took out a Ravager they had to slog after another target and were pretty much useless the rest of the game. It would pretty much be a "as needed" sort of thing. Plus I am just mulling over stuff to do with the new dex. I am having to redo my entire army list, as my old load-out does not work anymore, point wise that is. Toasterfree
i would think that you scouts are better used to come in behind enemy lines and take out tanks. snipers arent really that reliable. they dont always pin, id rather take out folks in masse with vindies Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/181942-scout-loadout/#findComment-2154609 Share on other sites
