Hi, im wondering which is better between

 

10 csm/champ- iok, rhino, 2 flamer, fist *36 attacks

+ *4 powerfist 265 pts

 

 

8 berzerkers/champ- rhino, fist *28 attacks + *4 powerfist 243 pts

 

22 point difference between them but csm has +2 bodies and extra killing power from flamers, the fist on the berzerkers could be swapped for a power weap, further increasing the points difference.

The Berserkers may look like less attacks, but they will usually hit first on the charge, and will be Strength 5 on the charge and are Weaponskill 5 also. So you hit first, hit harder, and hit more often than the CSM squad. Less attacks, but by hitting first that less attacks back so you don't have to worry as much about having 2 less bodies. The CSM have a greater range with their bolters, so its a trade off.

Charging enemy Marines, they hit on 4+, so 18/2 hits with S4 (ccw/pf), resulting in 9/1.6 wounds. Approximately 4.6 kills.

 

8 berzerkers/champ- rhino, fist *28 attacks + *4 powerfist 243 pts

Charging enemy Marines, they hit on 3+, so 18.6/2.6 hits with S5, resulting in 12.4/2.2 wounds. Approximately 6.3 kills.

 

 

Edit: If CC is your main objective, the Berserkers win. If you prefer the option to fire boltguns or special weapons, the Chaos Marines are a bit more flexible. Usually people prefer to concentrate on one strength. With lots of attacks both squads are already good at mass-killing, so perhaps you could consider meltaguns or plasmaguns for the occasional tank/monster hunting or anti-Marine shooting phase instead.

You have room for 1 more berzerker in that unit for the comparison.

4 less attacks, not 8.

 

32 vs 36.

If your beating on grots and ratlings then it wouldn't matter but everything else it does except for maybe T7 carnifexes and talos, while being able to wound a wraithlord on the charge with zerks.

 

Flamers for the special stuff you want to nuke down (combi-flamer is a good add as well for a third template) and having bolters for rapid fire if your facing stuff like harlequins, genestealers and such. Two flame templates out the top of the rhino. Though, zerks hurt more if you can get the charge for most things.
