Logan Grimnar's wolf totem

Im currently building Logan's Great company and would like to include a wolf totem, having looked through the whole codex I can't find anything refering to the Chapter banner in wargear which is odd as every other marine chapter can use it, In the Wolf totem section it says they are the banners of the Great company so to cut a long story short :rolleyes:, does a wolf totem in Logan's company feature the chapter banner motif or his own? and if its his own does anyone know what it looks like?

Grey Hunters carrying it would most likely be the symbol of Logan's company, not that of the Great Wolf, seeing as how that's pretty much all scouts/dreads/priests,etc.

The symbol of the Night Runner is Grimnar's company. If you're doing a banner to go with Grimnar or a unit he'll join, I'd probably go for a large Great Wolf icon.

I'd probably never use the actual SW Legion(chapter) symbol as I think the Wolves hold a hell of a lot more respect for the symbol of Russ (See above) over the symbol that the Emperor gave us.

My understanding is that Logan's company marking was altered when he became the Great Wolf (and so would be the wolf rampant) but some prefer that his company retains the old nightrunner badge and only dreadnoughts etc.. have the great wolf.

So you need to decide which badge you want to use. If you're using the great wolf, I suggest not surrounding it with a star field - I think I read that "the wolf that stalks the stars" was the badge of Russ, and so seems a fitting chapter badge.

This model (not mine) has the 2nd edition "company standard" which is now listed as the chapter banner

If you want to use the night runner badge, you've got a choice. you can either use it exactly as depicted (just the head)

or you can work it into a wolf rampant - This is what they've done in the new codex and I think it's a pretty neat idea.

Ragner's is a rampant brown wolf with a black mane, the head set against a yellow diamond (mirrowing the company badge)

Egil's is a wolf made of metal and Harald's has the head turned (regardant), presumably to allow space for the "sun" for the great devourer badge.

This is the sort of standard (based on the current codex) that I imagine Logan used to have, except that it would probably have read "logan" or "grimnar" rather than "space wolves" (I'm afraid I didn't have the time to search around for an appropriate font and then align it correctly). You'll have to excuse the blocky/fused nature of the wolf, I don't have photoshop and I took a number of short cuts when converting it from a line drawing.

Since "the Great Wolf" badge is so similar, there could be an argument that it's a respectful blending of the two, but that would fly in the face of the new 'dex which does it for all (or at least three) wolf lords.
