Nobody expects the Grottish Inquisition

So i've had these guys sitting around a while and thought i might see what everyone has to say, firstly sorry if the idea of gretchin inquisitors offends anyone, if it helps just think of them as purple slightly sub-humans, not grots.

anyways first up here is the Inquis himself

secondly here is his 3 Crusader henchmen

and lastly is his 2 Torturer/Medics and Familiar

all C&C is welcomed,

once he's painted i'll post up some pics of the Grey Knight GM i've made to join them...

AHAHAH ;)

Very unusual, thinking quite outside the box. This will unfortunately infuriate many people.

If I may be critical, I feel that the Inq grot in the power armour does not suit his retinue.

The retinue is very nicely done. The crusaders work well, and the two medics suit the grot bang on (especially with those nasty needles).

The Inq feels a bit out of character. I guess it is the shoulder pad. It is such a SM look that it doesn't suit the grot.

Maybe it is the picture, but the proportions feel a bit off.

Finally, I think that the purple skin would be a good idea to distance your model from an orc/k/goblin/grot model.

I like it. It falls in the same vein as the Hello Kittie Sisters of Battle of years ago. Utterly bizarre and unsuited, yet irresistible the more you look at it.

and absolutely disrespectful of the 40K universe

for that reason alone, there awesome

although I expect part poopers and people without a sense of humor to come along soon and start pouring there hate over you, just be aware of that cus it happens VERY often

thanks all for the comments,

yes as mentioned the green bits are from the same stuff as necron glow rods, then just inserted into the barrel of a tau plasma weapon (whatever they are called)

as for the Inq, yeah he is a little out of proportion, i've shortened both sections of his legs to try and help but hes still a little tall, might have to swap the shoulder pad though...

and i really dont see it as utterly disrespectful at all, I too love the 40k universe and part of the reason its so good is that there has always been alot of grey area unknown in the fluff and background to allow for the gamers (those who should be most important in something like this) to make it work how they want to create an enjoyable game.

besides whos to say that somewhere in that big old universe there is not some diminutive race of slightly goblinoid looking beings who have a stractly regimented society similar to the imperium. Or maybe they are just short, ugly, purple skinned sub-humans who devote themselves to the emperor in the hope of salvation.

Are they completely 100% official fluff? - No

Are they fun and do they make the hobby enjoyable? - Yes

to me thats enough

again, sorry if it does offfend peoples sensibilities, just my 2 cents worth

Love your work man, great stuff!!

But I'll echo what the others have said and say that while the retinue is perfect, the Inq looks slightly off. I think its the spacemarine armour. If you somehow managed to model a leather trenchcoat or something I think it would look more right. Inquisitors in my eyes should be more Hugh Jackman in VanHelsing and less Space Marine - but I suppose thats up to personal taste.

I think that the variety is part of the beauty of the inquisition.

My Inquisitor Lord rocks Artificer armour, because he is a "look at me, if it was good enough for the emperor to wear, its good enough for me to wear, well actually why don't you just make me the emperor, seriously look at me" type of guy.

Oh and to the OP, love your thinking outside the square.

I have a melta ready for such an occasion... :D

I found them amusing. You need to have a sense of humour like that sometimes. An Inquisitor whome has delved too deeply into dark lore and has become ( a rather stunted ) shadow of his former self :(

Better still, some slightly confused grots forming the Orkisition, dedicated to routing out lack of Orkishness ^_^

These amuse me.

I think it might be similar to the uncanny valley effect. You have a guy, a robot, and an android, most people will be creeped out by the android, 'cause it hits too close to home by trying to hard to be something it's not, human, but they like the robots just fine. A lot of works slide to close to the perceived canon universe without fully staying in the bounds, and this bothers people, I know sometimes it irritates me. These, on the other hand, remove themselves just far enough, to be funny, and attach with a clever excuse.

Is there more to the army, or is this it? Maybe you could post an army shot.

indeed as well as the Inquisigrot and his retinue I have a couple infantry platoons of Imperial Grots and some Orkryns - havent gotten around to working them out with the new codex though, havent used em in a long while.

here is the requested army shot

And here is a close up of the command squad with priest etc

And lastly a close up of the Orkryns

still havent figured out how to make them into Stormtroopers to form the required troops of my desired Inquisitorial force
