Mechanicus WIP

Hi Guys,

 

Not entirely sure if this really belongs in WIP rather than ad-mech, if so my apologies and feel free to move it over.

 

I figured I'd post up some pics of some of my work for my ad-mech army. Mine is a slightly different flavour in that it's more tech-guard than some mechanicus armies I've seen. Love to hear your thoughts and feedback.

I think I'm most pleased with the medic conversion complete with adjustable wrench!

Cheers guys, I'm happy with progress so far. I'll take a group shot later so you can see where the full force is at.

 

Officers are a bit tricky, I've got the FW Titan Tech Priest but I've also got the skulz ad-mech unit, so I'd really like to use it, but it's a bit of a random selection of models!

 

I'll also post up a wip of my heavy weapons support teams, would like to hear some feedback on those as well.

 

For the record, to anyone wanting to do an ad-mech army, guitar wire is a nightmare!!

As promised here's some more pics of what I've been tinkering with:

 

Heavy Weapons team, apologies for the blurriness, I forgot to switch on macro, but I'm sure you get the gist. The weapons platform is built from two of the C.A.T. Servitors from the space hulk box, a grenade launcher and a few other random bits. There will be probably fived of these in total.

What kind of strategy do you play with this army? I'd be quite tempted to use priests as stand ins for commissars and have quite alot of them (they work well in my experience). I think AdMech ratlings could be quite cool and I can think of a huge number of ways to represent them (Servo skulls is probably the coolest). What plans have you in the way of armour? I think you should include some sentinels, I think they'd fit well in an exploritator force because of the mobility and I'd like to see the way you'd model them.

To be honest, I've not really looked too much at a strategy for the army, I wanted to build up a FoC legal force and build from there.

 

I do have a spare penitent engine which got damaged which I could look at building a sentinel from. I might dig it out soon and have a play around with it.

 

The only bit of armour I've got my eye on at the minute is a leman russ exterminator, if that's the one with the dirty great plasma cannon on it?

plasma is the executioner, though the exterminator is a good variant (TLAC), I've fielded on for almost ten years now (First in my SW army which I started when the 3rd ed codex came out).

 

I would say you best bet as far as starting is a platoon and a unit of vets to fill your comulsory troops and a HQ of your choice (I'm restructering at the moment but I would recomend having a command squad or Commissar as your basic). Obviously you want some engineseers. I think a Pyker battle squad would fit the fluff quite well as something based on (an) electropriest(s). Maybe some ogryns as preatorians, I never play guard forces without either Ogryns or Rough Riders to make up the CC defficit.

 

You've inspired me to get back to work on my army, though my biggest ambition is an all Rough Rider army with mounted officers and the like but It would be alot of work for an illegal army.

 

Snipers with Bionic bits all over them would be cool, maybe with the old guitar wire to the eye thing.

Since the arrival of the Grey Knight Codex and the NDK, I've finally found the potential to build my Knight Titan, here's my WIP Coteaz. He's a bit of a requisite as I don't want any GK in the force.

 

Hope you like, I'll post up the Knight Titan once it starts to take shape.
