Lord Howland Greywolf
Well just had the first apoc game with the new list and it was amazing. I wont go into the details but I will tell of the greatest moments. First the mission. 18,000pts aside. The enemy (mostly Tyranids) had to capture the command building that the we (mostly Wolves) were holding. To do this they had to smash through a tank devision, mine feild, fortress walls filled with longfangs and runpreists (for those pesky carnifex's), a secondary line of close combat units (focused around a bridge that was the fatest way to cross a river) Then enter a city filled with a reserve line of close combat units, snipers and imperial guard heavy teams.the other way they could enter the city was on anouther table where there was a breach in the walls and if they could get to the table edge they could enter on the side of the inner city. To hold the breach we place Bjorn and 5 other ven dreads as what we taged as "The Iron Wall". What we expected to happen was, the carnifexes (with fleet, regen, tusks and two sets of crushing claws and tusks) with the hyrodule and bio-titan ( ) in the front and smash through our lines which would be followed by his skittery little bugers to mop up the defenders, while his allies would sweep through "The Iron Wall". What he actually did was compleatly different. His Hyrodule and Titan deployed in the main line, with his alled units  while his carnifex's and skitters went for the Iron Wall :o . His space marine allies would drop pod aussault into the rear city and his genstealers and lictors would emerge from the river and surround our forces there. We were nevers at that point. And we won  . And not just by the skin of our teeth ether. His Hyrodule and Titan (even when it came back from one of his assets) got cerbstomped and his allies got shot to peices. The drop pods landed to close to our blood claws and wolf guard uber unit, and the genstellers arived too late to shift the battle and were cought in the crosfire of every thing we had. Now all the while we were dreading that the cranifex's would smash the dreadnoughts aside and then they would have a clear run to our undefended left flank. But the Iron Wall never fell. Though by rights the dreds should have been destroyed, but only two died. The other three were eather weapon destroyed or immobilised. But Bjorn. Oh holy hellfire Bjorn. Despite being up against a fex on his own (the others doubled up when they could) he iddnt take a scratch, through his 5++ and venerable the nids couldnt roll more than a 2. And because of that we won the game in our eyes. Other highlights: Ragnar, Ulric, Arjac and 6 other terminators with TH or PF taking on a bio-titan and winning. The above getting charged by the secound Bio-titan and losing one terminator (With a SS no less :) ) and then taking 7 wounds off of it. A Wolfpreist Surviving a genstealer charge and lookin greally heroic standing surrounded by them. A Wolf scout sniper squad sniping a lictor that was assisting the 'stealer's (Feeder tendrels, oh so nasty). And finaly my other wolf scout pack sneaking on behind enemy lines and assasinating a tau etherial (but the tau didnt run, unfortionatly, but it was still cool). oh also we descovered the perfect intro song for nids enjoy  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/182082-apocalips-now/ Share on other sites
