Locmac
So after getting the planetstrike book my friend who plays orks convinced me to play a game against him. Now I don't have a list for the game yet, mainly because I was looking through the codex and.....well we don't seem very well off :D . Any good units (Skyclaws and Pods I know) or statagems to take? And I'm looking for attacker ideas i have defender ones. Thanks Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/182110-sw-and-planetstrike/ Share on other sites
Grey Mage
What point value are we looking at? In general your going to want to take the Grenades Strategy and some BCJPs if you gottem. Whirlwind. And a Chainfist wielding WG in every squad you can. We have frags on everything now, thank the gods.... Whirlwind is a wonderful buy. Multimelts on your longfangs are good in PS. Marshal Wilhelm
What points do you play to? I have never played PS before but this is what I think these will work.... So you need to crack the Bastions and then kill the men. Ideally this happens on the turn you land. This can be done with Meltaguns - GH. Dreadnoughts can use a Multimelta having moved and then can assault, which is nice as the half-range is 12" and makes for safer Deep Striking. I think that will be ideal for PS. If you crack the B then you want to kill them quick as you can. This is a flamer job - GH again. Also Dreadnoughts with heavy flamers. Powerfists and Thunderhammers will struggle but Chainfists average pen 15 which will open them up. Vindicator could work well either to crack the B or to kill the occupants. Though I am pro-Las cannon I think MM will be the go, so Landspeeders. Give WG and IC melta-bombs. You want to take out the B with shooting but it is a nice back up to have. Remember deep striking units, and I think that includes drop pods, get to assault. Drop/Melta/Charge.... A drop-podded Dread can Drop/Melta/Charge - either the B or the men. That gives the Dread potentially 2 attempts per turn to crack the B. Maybe combi-meltas for WG? LF won't be able to shoot when they land BUT next turn, if they a landed centrally to where you are attacking, they can add LC or MM fire. If the Orks try to hammer them that is okay - I think the GH and Dreads will be your game winners and even drawing fire from them will be productive. If the Orks don't target them, well that is good too :) Perhaps a good value choices would be MeltaHunters; 2 Meltaguns, Mark of Wulfen and Wolf Standard. Dreadnought; MM, Heavyflamer, Extra armour, Wolftooth necklace. I think GH are good value, just because you don't need to take TROOPS doesn't mean you should forget about them. I realise I haven't given you any real plan but I have pointed good things SW have and the general theory - it is up to you to 'make it happen' :D I hope I have been helpful.
