Viable foot slogging tactics

One question about Dreadnoughts and foot slogging: they would be the only vehicles in a complete foot slogging army. So about all anti-tank weapons fielded by the opponent will be directed at the Dreadnought. On the one hand this can be used as a bait, but then again it will also be wrecked soon. How do you make Dreads a valuable addition in such an army?

The only option you have is to screen the dreads. If you place an infantry unit in front of it, then the dread will be ebscured enough to grant it a cover save. On the other hand, because of the weapons are mounted higher on the dread, it will have a clear LOS to it's target.

This is how you can make them more survivable.

Other option would be to take bikers, TWC or fenrisian wolves, so you can tie down your opponents long range anti-tank.

Another option is to provide other more dangerous targets to your opponent, so it's not worth for him to shoot it, like terminators or TWC.

Its also worth noting- Venerable, while expensive, is incredible at keeping them alive.
