1750 points of Legion of the Damned

As a fan and collector of the Legion of the Damned, I must say Bravo! Those are some <_< fine miniatures. Since I am building a Legion army (to be used as "counts as" DIY SMs), I will definitely be (shamelessly and blatantly) stealing some of your ideas for my army (particularly that killer Vindi dozer blade). They will help build on the company and a half of OOP Legionaires I have so I can get to 2 companies.

PS Your conversion of Maugan is very interesting. I got one as part of an eBay purchase (guy had been planning to conv it to Legion but did not complete it). Yours gives me some good ideas on how to use him with my army.

The skeletons are from Vampire counts. Quite a nice sprue, really.

I must warn y'all, the Maugan Ra conversion was fairly difficult. His right arm covers over half his chest and is a thick piece of metal to carve off, his left hand presses right up against the shoulder pad, and his legs need a lot of bulking up to look like power armour.

Very cool been contemplating a LotD army for myself (Though I would be doing something alittle different with it..). ;) :tu:

Any Plans on expanding the army any more?

Which Skeleton box did you use? the Current one? The Snap Fits? The Old one??

Yeah, well, the "tank only carrying a single spare shell, and in a place that blocks the door" never really made sense to me. So, as with all things 40k, I improved on it with something that makes less sense.

The army list was Nurgle. Did pretty well too, got 5th in battle points and average in composition. Missed out on best painted by half a point, btw.

Vindi blade was: get a box of skeletons, cut em up, glue em on, shove GS between them, and paint.

I also want to know which skeleton box you've used. I want to used them for my landraiders and maybe more.

wow...just, wow. This army is amazing. And, with your permission, can I steal that vindi blade idea? Just bought a new one to go with my old kitbashed new rhino chassis/old gun one, and that conversion is simply amazing!

Good God! That Vindy, as everyone else has said, is great. And surprisingly, it seems like a fairly simple conversion ( Tho time consuming no doubt.) Loving the Ra conversion, never thought i'd see an eldar xeno turned marine commander! Nice work

Well, I suppose I should update this thread now that I've finished the next "Expansion" to the army.

Obliterators:

The servitors represent the 2nd wound that Oblits have, and also handily carry the heavy weapon options that Oblits have in-game.

Another unit of marines:

Not a particulary well-lit photo.

Defiler:

I rushed through painting the unit of marines, and finishing/painting the defiler in order to get it completed for a tournament. Things I need to go back to: Smoothing the Defiler's shoulder pads, repainting the flames, highlighting the metallics, adding studs to the trim, and completely redoing that giant scythe blade.

I also need to find a new ccw for the third techmarine, because I ripped that scythe off of him and gave it to my Lord.

My next expansion, if I ever do it, will involve scratch built "Drop Pods" (giant bony fingers erupting out of the ground) and land speeders. Maybe a Land Raider if I go Blood Angels. Yeah, I'll be moving away from Chaos :P.

Whoops, forgot the army shot.

It comes just under the chin of a Warhound, btw. Which is about right for the epic model it is based on.
