Predator

Prototype

Recommended Posts

I managed to get a Predator model for my SW army for free (hehe) but its currently built with all Lascannons. I do also have the Autocannon/HB bitz, so I could just pry the lascannons off and replace them, but I think I cannot go any further than that (i.e. no way I'm gonna be able to change it into a rhino without permanently wrecking the sponson bits).

What do you guys think of Predators, and what weapons to give?

Thanks

It depends on what you want it to do, if you lack anti-horde then AC+Heavy Bolters is the way to go and is fairly cheap, a good allrounder is Autocannon+lascannons as it is decent vs light-heavy tanks and heavy infantry. The good old predator annihilator (all lascannon) is expensive, but fluffy as Space Wolves are the ones who invented it(though apparently that was overlooked in the new dex).

Preds are very effective tanks, though you do need to make sure you put them in the right place, as their side and read armour is fragile.

I´ve magnetized each and every one of my vehicles so I never really have that problem.

My humble Rhino can without problem be transformed to a Whirlwind, Razorback or a Predator with sponsons. Not to mention the magnetized dozer blade.

So thats my tip to you, magnetize your Predator and never have problems like this again.

However, with your current Predator I personally would use LC-sponsons for large games and HB for smaller games. Magnetize the weapons in the turret.

I've been running an Annie for a long time and I swear by them. You're going to have a trouble finding a better tank killer. Sure it's expensive, but if you keep it on the back lines, the lascannons can still reach across the board while staying out of melta range. Your biggest threat is other lascannons ... so just take them down first. :)

If it's already glued together ... leave it be. I've done my fair share of dismantling and you usually end up wrecking everything. If you can get your hands on one that's not put together ... seriously consider magnetizing it for the versatility it brings.

I am also a huge fan of the full Lascannon setup as well. Especially since it compliments my army very well being its my main ranged AT weapon and if you deploy it correctly you can reach nearly the everywhere on the board AND they have to deal with it's front armor (the only time I've had anything hit elsewhere was some deep striking units but there's not much you can do about that for the most part). 3 Lascannon shots (one twin-linked) with a decent chance to hit and a 2+ to wound on dang near everything....yeah expensive but worth it in my opinion.
