Your Choice of Heavy Support?

Prototype

Recommended Posts

I was thinking of placing an order for a Whirlwind and a Vindicator to accompany my Predator (spoken of in another thread below) in my armored vehicle army (Rhinos, Drop Pods, maybe a Dreadnought, and some tanks; I love armor :)), but I was thinking it might be better if I took like multiple of the same vehicle for redundancy purposes, or maybe I should just scrap vehicles in favor of Long Fangs.

So with all that said, what do you guys usually take as your Heavy Support Choices?

Thanks

I'm going Long Fangs all the way, but it's mostly because I've been wanting to field them for the last 7 years but couldn't find a spot for them in my old lists. But go with what you love, and if that's armour then so be it.

Whirlwind and vindicators are a good choice, though Vindicators tend to work best in pairs or shielded by Raiders. If you plan on using your pred for dakka, I'd go for Long Fangs or Vindicator, if it'll be mostly for tankhunting, then Whirlwind is good.

Armored company?

Yeah, keep the theme- Vindicator and Whirlwind, 210pts of templaty goodness.

If you feel you need to supplement, and you might, then I heartilly reccommend some Landspeeders.

Typhoons for their points are phenomenal. I always try and squeeze in a pair of them in all my lists.

I'm going with 2 Longfangs, and then a Landraider crusader if the points is enough. 2 longfangs mainly for fluff reasons. Will be playing Gunnar Red-moons company and he favours longfangs. I mean Ragnar is so mainstream and I hate eldar so that is the obvious choice <_< plus his company badge is BADASS.

Sunday is my regular gaming night and this week I walked into my regular 'Nid foe. The previous week my land raider list didn't doa great deal so this time I brought along a 6 man Long Fang pack with 5 Lascannons. I found they could kill a carni a turn on average rolls <_<

Going to be sticking with my Long Fangs and will experiment with Vindicators next week.

thats quite a lot of points but i suppose if thats what you are taking down its worth it

my current list is as follows

wolf guard battle leader, frost blade, storm shield, bike

10 grey hunters, 1 power fist, 2 melta guns, 1 plasma pistol, drop pod

10 grey hunters, 1 power fist, 2 plasma guns, wolf banner, rhino

10 grey hunters, 1 power fist, 2 flamers, mark of the wulfen, rhino

6 grey hunters plasma gun, power weapon, razorback, lascannons

5 swift claws, 1 power fist

predator annihilator, extra armour

vindicator, siege shield, extra armour

=1500

in my opinion the vindicator is a fantastic tank and is a great way to take out large groups of meqs, the annihilators lascannons are usually enough to take out whatever armour it shoots at.

2 vindicators and my leman russ as a counts as Predator, vindicators are grate for intimidation, few people want to get in range of their guns, unfortunately this also makes them huge targets, which is why you want 2 i normally have at least one that has horrible luck on fist turn and gets blown up

I am personally averse to the use of any armored vehicles (tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers, self-propelled artillery) in a Space Marine force, so for me it's just Long Fangs and Land Speeders for supporting fires.
