ChainsawDR
Afternoon all, My army list has a Wolf priest with a Jump Pack that leads 8 SkyClaws - I have the Skyclaws all painted up and ready but I'm not sure how to model my wolf priest. Does anyone have any examples of a wolf priest that they have made - the only ones that I know available are Ulrik, and the ridiculously expensive Games Day wolf priest. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. ChainsawDR Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/182306-wolf-priest-model/ Share on other sites
Ranvir Krakendoom
Can't think of many models that would suit. Personally, I use the ridiculously expensive GD one. Perhaps some of the plastic parts from the new SW pack box set would be suitable. There's a wolf cloak in there and the wold shaped helm might work. Plus the bits are now really nicely decorated with swirly trims on the shoulder pads etc. Or maybe a LOD model with the flames removed might work as the basis for a conversion with loads of extra wolf bits thrown on. good luck Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/182306-wolf-priest-model/#findComment-2156836 Share on other sites
Lord Ragnarok
If you could somehow get the head of Ulrik, you could do this. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v365/hansmannstein/WolfPriestfix.jpg I have kitted up the wolf's head in the new kit and used it for my WP in termie. I plan on painting it bone like the typical Wolf Priest/Chaplain. Not as nice as an Ulrik type head but using Ulrik means cutting it off. Toasterfree
for a jump pack WP the chaplin on jump pack would work awesome Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/182306-wolf-priest-model/#findComment-2156867 Share on other sites
Lord Ragnarok
Also, I don't think the skeleton helm or wolf's helm is mandatory. I think a tattooed WP could look just as intimidating. Hfran Morkai
I too am pondering this as I have decided to add two Wolf Priests to my Great Company, one with a jump pack and the other on a bike. I'm thinking of simply using plastic pieces and selecting very ornate ones, acquire pieces of parchment from somwhere and perhaps scroll canisters from the terminator boxes. Because I'm trying to have as much of my force in plastic as possible, in 10,000 points only Njal is metal, unless Bjorn will be released as a metal figure, of which I'm unsure. greese_m0nkey
I am building one from the new PA sprues. I magnitized the back pack so I can switch it for a jump pack. For the Cruxis I cut the head of the two handed frost axe just below the upper hand and used the winged back banner peace for the head so I have a cruxis with the wolf sculls on each side. I am thinking of doing the same thing with a TDA WP useing the thunder hammer with the sculls on the shaft and the wing design on the back. Cut off the hammer side get a second hammer for the other wing shape and walla a WP power weapon is born. El Scotcho
I've built 2 Wolf Priests using the new plastics, one is completely plastic, one is converted from the jump pack chaplain. I'll post pics here in a little while. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/182306-wolf-priest-model/#findComment-2157031 Share on other sites
El Scotcho
Ok, so here are some pics to inspire you to make your own Wolf Priests!! This is the plastic one And the other side of him And here's the one converted from the metal jump pack chaplain, and a couple of bits from Canis And the side And the back They're both built using mainly plastic pieces from the new Wolf Pack box, with the rosarius looking thing on the metal one from the new Wolf Guard in TDA box. The conversion to the wolf skull helm was easy, I just use my sprue clippers to chop the front of the helmet off and greenstuffed the wolf skull on. I also greenstuffed the parchment hanging in between his legs into wolf fur, because I thought that it looked better, and to my mind Space Wolves don't write most things down, they're passed down by oral tradition. Karack Blackstone
I have found that in the new SW power armor box set that the wolf-helm head, wolf-skull torso, wolf-pelt legs and wolf-pelt back all combine with the powersword and wolf-skull backpack to make a rather convincing Wolf Priest. Other bits are one bolt pistol and base. Shoulder pads are a matter of preference, the right one I prefer the wolf-pelt thing mounted on it, the left I don't recall right now. It looks rather nice, wish I had a pic to show. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/182306-wolf-priest-model/#findComment-2157062 Share on other sites
ChainsawDR
thanks everyone, I really appreciate the responses - especially El Scotcho and Lord Ragnarok for posting the pics. Am I correct in thinking he has to be/should be black? Am I correct in thinking he has to be/should be black? Thank you ChainsawDR Black appears to be the Fluffy colour for them, being defined in the codex entry. Also I've used the wolf head from the pack box, then read the fluff and it said wolf skull helm, whoops! I don't know about all the filing down (there's a lot of choas details on that model), but I know exactly the head you are talking about and will try and dig one out for a conversion and use in the way you described on another model - just need to wait until friday (payday) then I'm getting a battleforce! Would be interested in seeing a picture of how yours looks if you are able to. roon
For my Wolf Priest I've also used Ulriks head, and top of his weapon. Fot the rest I used the excellent Rune Priest model, and some little green stuff. I'm happy with the result I got: http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d126/Wolfman_roon/Space%20Wolves/RunePriestandWolfPriest.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/182306-wolf-priest-model/#findComment-2158087 Share on other sites

Alienerd
Wow that last Ulrik + Runepriest one is great! s for me I did what others did with the wolf helm, back pack topper and the frost blade cut below the top hand. I was slightly irritated though whn I glued on the Ragnar shoulder pad, went to check up on a wolf priests needs, and it said you needed a shoulder pad with the star chasing wolf on it, but tht was easily solved. I'm messing around with my engraver experimenting on etching runes for my Wolf Priest into plastic armour with mixed results. Has anyone tried this approach with any success? Edit: Does anyone know if GW will be producing any generic ICs? Growler67
Edit: Does anyone know if GW will be producing any generic ICs? My WAG is no, they blew their wad on ALL those for the UltraSmurfs. The rest of everyone else will have to use those and convert them.....or pay through the nose for a possible ForgeWorld offering (not very likely either). A few may get resculpts but my guess is that their position is "we provided you ALL these wolfy bits......make your own". Just sayin'.
