The Fenrisian
I presume I already know the answer to this, but I figured I'd at least get some input either way. If you give a model Mark of the Wulfen, there's not much point in spending the points on meltabombs is there? The Mark rules will override his ability to use the grenade in combat with a vehicle surely? Apologies if you think it's a stupid question. I just wanted a sneaky little Lone Wolf running about blowing stuff up. stinkenheim
i dont think so. the stipulation is that it gains no bonuses from special weapons, a grenade isn't one i dont think. don't forget you forfeit all your other attacks for one chance with a grenade, so i doubt many people would have a complaint... The part that I find a little hard to get around (expecting the rules lawyers a bit) is the part that says his attacks are made with the model's claws and teeth and unaffected by wargear. It's easy to notice that this is to stop MotW/Frostblade/PW antics, but it's whether a grenade counts as a 'special CCW'. I suppose you're right with the replacing attacks part. Most people would be ok with it, or you'd hope at least. Forseti
How is this rhetorical? I'd say no grenades, the rules say it turns him into a killing machine with battle frenzy, just doesn't seem right that someone whos given in to the inner beast would have the thought of pulling out a grenade instead of charging claw first into it. I find the rending to be more dangerous, so if it were against me and you really wanted it I'd let it go heh.. That being said it's not too much of a difference is it? A single chance at D6+6 vs D6+2(if charging) D6+4 rending attacks. Plus it's so much more satisfying, throwing a grenade and hitting a vulnerable part is nothing, ripping open a tank hatch and slaughtering the drivers/gunners inside is so much cooler. Locmac
I would say it's viable. As stinkenheim said you forfeit all your normal attacks for a single meltabomb attack .It'd be the same as getting rid of your normal attacks for one, only you lose D6+1. Just my two cents Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/182365-a-rhetorical-question/#findComment-2157542 Share on other sites

Where does the D6+4 come from? It's D6+1 normally, D6+2 if charging, and you can get +1 for grimnar's living legend. PS - it is pretty cool when a normal wolf guard, in power armour, with storm bolter and MoW tears apart an eldar war walker and makes it explode - and then no one dies from the wolf guards side in the oncoming explosion - very satisfying indeed :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/182365-a-rhetorical-question/#findComment-2157817 Share on other sites

Grey Mage
Sadly, meltabombs are definitely "wargear" as they are in the wargear section :D. So no grenades. Whats really interesting to me though is that a stormshield is NOT in the wargear section. The Fenrisian
I guess it's tearing into tanks with my bare fists then! :P Thanks guys, I just needed some extra opinions Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/182365-a-rhetorical-question/#findComment-2157983 Share on other sites
El Scotcho
Wait did I read this correctly? Whats really interesting to me though is that a stormshield is NOT in the wargear section. Hmmm, Lone Wolf in TDA with the Mark of the Wulfen, and a Storm Shield. That sounds pretty nasty to me, especially with a couple of Fenrisian Wolves tacked on for kill offs/ melee help. I think at least one Lone Wolf just got more fun. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/182365-a-rhetorical-question/#findComment-2158246 Share on other sites
avatar8481
Except LW are MC hunters and need a high strength weapon to ensure their rerolled hits get through, think PF or CF for them. (CF so they can threaten vehicles). Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/182365-a-rhetorical-question/#findComment-2158250 Share on other sites

Yes you did - Storm Shields are on page 62, in the "Upgrads and Other Equipment" section.
