Growler67
I plan to update this thread and to have it available for comments, as I have disabled that portion of My Blog on this site: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...blogid=821& I have bits inbound for more projects but for now what I am currently actually doing any work on are my Wolf Lord rendition of Bjorn Stormwolf as I have taken up the challenge HERE and Arjac Rockfist. For inspiration after reading what is available in the new Dex (regarding Arjac), I've been keeping in mind this: "Spliting the air like lightning and making the ground tremble from the roar of its thunder; resembling the legendary Mjolnir cast by the hand of Thor". I keep hearing this as I work on my portrayal of Arjac. I believe I have the epitomy of poses envisioned and only (as if it were that easy) have to bring it into existance. Work progresses but it's been very slow the last several days due to things not all in my control. As for my Bjorn, again I have my vision. I am going with true scale because, well I think it's very appropriate for a Wolf Lord to be so. My first go at true scale and I am just hoping I can do my vision justice as I manifest it into being. I have some other ideas bouncing around between m ears and am actually writing them down so I don't forget. Sometimes I have the cpacity to think much faster than I can speak, type or model (I don't think I am the only one with this particular affliction). Inspired by THIS Thread I am going to model a pair of "Shield Maidens" as Servitors to an Iron Priest. I have jotted down some ideas and a short story fluff-wise and think/hope it will be met with acceptance by my fellow Wolf Brothers. Bits are inbound to complete this particular project and I will (as mentioned earlier) be updating as I get along. I will be making full presentations after all projects are completed. Meaning when they are done (painted and all) I will present the models with pictures from different angles/views as well as any/all fluff written regarding them. This is actually the part of the hobby I enjoy the most. I haven't actually played a game in about a year and never really cared for tournament gaming at all. My painting skills are far below many others and not something I am terribly proud of. However, my conversion and sculpting skills are what give me plenty of gratification. In my writing I am provided with satisfaction as this too is part of the creative portions of the hobby that I truly enjoy. The gaming for me has always been secondary but the modeling and fluff have been the draw that excites my inner muse. Thoughts, C&C or even suggestions will gladly be accepted. dublindawg
I am glad that my conversion of a Wolf Priestess inspired you to make a couple as servitors for an Iron Priest. I look forward to seeing your conversions of these and the other things you have planned. I know how if feels to have so many conversion ideas, I have 3 on the table at this time. I am close to completing a conversion of an Orc buggy to an attack bike carrying a few kegs of ale, a WL on a TWM and using some old orc bikes as track wheeled bikes for swift claws. Good luck! Growler67
Good luck! As I was looking for bits, I saw some beer keg bits. Whimsical enough for another project just nothing at this particular time, too much on my palate, as it were. Your idea was the catalyst, I ran with it ina slightly different direction and then changed direction with the second making "the" into "them" and the idea then sparked a story to back it up, not to mention that having reread "Space Wolf" not too long ago was also helpful. I'm getting a little ahead of myself with the maidens right now as I don't have the bits in hand yet. Arjacs shield is getting some detailed trimming and a little more GS. I couldv'e gone with a right handed shield a little easier by getting the C:SM Command Champion shield bit (right handed) but it would've then meant even MORE work to be done on the hammer in the left hand and adjustments to the repositioning of the legs and everything else. As stated in the Blog entry, he is pictured in the Dex with shield in his right hand. I chose to go with it in the left to better accomodate my legs choice and the overall pose of the model. The legs are getting really close to being done, as is the shield. I'll get started on the rest of him once these two portions are to my satisfaction. Thank you for the comments and Good Luck to you as well for your projects.
