Ginger Ninja
 Please bear with me on this, Brothers. Having just finished reading the new Codex, I know that the Space Wolves, fluff wise, shouldn't have any. But, here's the thing- What does a person do who really likes the rules (for both the army and the special characters) but, awkward bit coming up, doesn't like the models? My thing, model wise, is to have them as gothic knightly as possible ( I don't think that's proper englund, but couldn't think how else to put it ). How would this idea be received, particularly by Space Wolf players? Would it be met by howls of protest and would I end up buried by a storm of thrown ale tankards or would people be like- "Go for it". After all, dare I say it, the 40K Universe is a fantasy setting so maybe, within the game rules of course, the only limit to the fun should be our imaginations. Apart from the 'Acute Senses' rule, which I can't reconsile with a knight, I personally can much easier imagine a connection between a 'Space Viking' and a Knight than I can connect a Knight and the classical Greek/Roman imagery of a Codex Marine. My image of a Knight is not of the courtly dancing with ladies type but of the much more rough and ready hard drinking, hard fighting type typiefied best by medieval Normans or those men who set out on the First Crusade. If you look at real world history you will see that, in simplified terms, early medieval Knights in western Europe came from the Normans and the Normans came from Vikings who settled in France. So there you have it. Now what say you- 'Impossible' or 'Fair Enough'. Looking forward to reading your views. Thanks. Hfran Morkai
You don't need to say they are a successor chapter. Just say they are a space marine chapter and use your fluff. Then use the Wolf rules, we've been seeing people talking about using the codex for DA so go for it! wiplash
there was one SW successor chapter, the wolf brothers who are no more :/ or atleast not on record, im not sure its precisely down in writing but basically they were eradicated or exterminated beacuase of the wolfiness over powering them (possibly like wulfen) there are articles in the B+C librarium about them and the lost companies so thats fluffwise if you dont like the models then that doesn't matter just use different models!! just use "counts as" its perfectly legal as far as im aware Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/182478-space-wolf-successors/#findComment-2158669 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
Umm... you dont have to be a successor chapter to use our rules. Counts as is a wonderful thing for this kind of situation. You could be a crusading chapter that started out in the area around fenris, and learned at our hands... or maybe you just picked up the old "legion" way of equiping your "tactical" squads. I would be opposed to a "knightly" successor chapter, but if you wanted to make a Chapter of Tutonic Knights and use our rules, I wouldnt blink at it at all. Hfran Morkai
Also acute senses could be justified by their regular use of advanced sensor suites in their helmets. ForTheLion
Play around with the timeline  The wolves always had 12 companies in active duty, that dsnt necesary mean they are ken dols that stay the same no matter how much time goes by! Say youre using wolves from 35th millenium where they had some special campaign and painted their armor, or make up some long lost great company , works wonders for us Robe wearing sisies! ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/182478-space-wolf-successors/#findComment-2158717 Share on other sites

breng77
I'm doing something similar to what you are suggesting using Celtic mythology for my chapter as opposed to Norse. (Though I am using some of the models as guys with shaggy beards fit the bill) However my TWC will be guys riding in chariots. Trust me, people have been doing "Celtic Marines" using SW rules for atleast 8 years, probly longer.
