Ravenfeld
I have been looking at Land Raiders for my various Iron Hands lists and I just wanted to know what everyone felt on both Land Raiders (Stock, Crusader, Redeemer) and Rhino vs. Razorback (How do you equip your RB?). Really I wanna know what Land Raiders are the best bang for their buck. I know a lot of people really enjoy using the Crusader, but I wanna know why. From where I am sitting the basic LR is the best bang without being concerned with transport capacity. Thanks for the info! Giga
My lists usually have the land raider classic (I find the flexibility of the LR classic fits my playstyle the best). I normally have 3 tac squads (or two tac squads and a sternguard squad if I'm fielding Pedro). Two of them have rhinos, and the third (which is the defensive squad that usually camps objectives) has a razorback. I think all of those vehicles are useful in their own way. The question is only what fits your playstyle the best. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/182534-transports/#findComment-2159384 Share on other sites
Iron_Chaos_Brute
Crusader all the way IMO. If only CSM could have them... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/182534-transports/#findComment-2159815 Share on other sites
Hfran Morkai
Land Raider/Land Raider Crusader. In fact my Great Company has no rhinos or drop pods. It will have 6 Raiders though and four Razorbacks. I just really don't like the look or feel of rhinos. Vel'Cona
Aye, I'm not a fan of DP either unless it's for a Dread. My personal fav LR variant is the Crusader. Since its induction back in the BT section of Codex: Armageddon, I've always thought the close support equip was the best way to go for an assault transport. The power up and subsequent nerfing has left Assault Cannons an all around good weapon (not OP like 4th), and the Hurricane Bolter sponsons are quite good for volume of fire. Stick on the obligatory MM and consider the bigger transport capacity, and the Crusader is really the superior variant. For Razorbacks, I was a fan of TL LC back in 3rd and 4th, when the LC was the king of tank death. Now that Melta has taken the throne, I prefer the less expensive versatility of the TL HB variant, especially given that this is actually the cheapest way to get a HB in C:SM (other than HB AB, which are smaller and faster but not TL and soak FA slots). Not much to say here about Rhinos that hasn't already been said, but I'll leave it that I'm a fan of highly mechanized armies from way back. I consider at least two Rhinos a staple of all C:SM lists. The Wolves would do well to remember the humble Rhino when compiling their shiny new lists. minigun762
I thought there was a blurb in the Razorback section explaining how much the Iron Hands love them and can't wait to only use Razorbacks. Somewhere else in the codex I thought there was also a little blurb about Iron Hands saying "firepower, firepower and firepower" or something to that effect. So I think the Razorback makes a very appropriate choice. I know 40 points for a mobile TL'd Heavy Bolter ain't crappy at all. Crusaders are great IF you have a worthwhile unit inside them. Assault Terminators being the obvious choice but Vanguard, Honor Guard or Command Squads are all good choices, but a Tactical Squad seems a bit meh. If you want the pure firepower of a standard pattern Land Raider, I'd look instead at the Combi-Predator. Nothing is twin linked, but an AutoCannon matches the LasCannons better in intended targets (heavy infantry, light armor, walkers, MCs) and its 1/2 the price tag. Grey Mage
Landraiders- I like the crusader, for the large transport capacity. Razorbacks- I like Las/plas, for the unmatched heavy infantry killing firepower it provides. Rhinos- I likem cheap, or gone. Vissah
The humble Rhino is all you need to get your boys around and across the table. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/182534-transports/#findComment-2160629 Share on other sites
Kronk
Rhino rush. 4 rhinos, 4 crusader squads. You can't get them all. And if you do, that predator behind them and that dreadnought I just drop podded into your butt are each going to have a field day.
