Living Lightning

I did a search and couldn't find the answer to my question, but confess I might have suffered from male-pattern blindness…

If I take Living Lightning with my Rune Priest and want to use it during the shooting phase of my turn - how do I do it? Reading the profile and the description confuse me - the profile makes it sound like I pick any one unit on the map and then roll a D6 to see how many Strength 7 AP 5 hits I get, but the wording in the description which says, "grounding on foe after foe until a trail of blackened corpses is left in its wake" makes it sound almost like it keeps going beyond the unit I targeted until all the D6 hits hit.

Can someone please unconfuse me - or am I over thinking it and I only get to attack one unit and if I run out of D6 attacks before the unit is gone the rest don't "ground"?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks Vassakov!

A followup question, if you'll permit…

…Storm Caller - is it just the individual models that are within 6" that are protected, of if part of a pack is within the 6" does the whole pack get the cover? (cause the wording says "all friendly squads" not all friendly models)

Thanks again!

Thanks Vassakov!

Right, if a squad has a model within 6" then that squad benefits from the cover save.

Pick any unit in LoS, pass a Psychic test and blast them with D6 S7 AP5 hits. Especially good vs light vehicles, I feel this and the Storm (3D6 S3 + Dangerous/Difficult Terrain) are the best powers in the book.

You have to make a ballistics skill check as well, right?

Yes, psychic shooting attacks still roll to hit like normal attacks.

And stormcaller is like most "aura" affects- if any model is in the range the whole squad, and attached characters, are also in the range. If hes in a Rhino when he casts it you measure from the hull of rhino, same for landraiders etc.

ok…got my midterm out of the way and my two oldest sons pushed out of the nest into their own apartment over the weekend, so now I can get back to this…and at the risk of sounding/looking really dumb - because I want to start playing again (so I need to learn how to do it right and how to represent the Space Wolves well) and just in case of the outside chance that someone else reading here might have the same question(s) I have, I guess I'll use this thread to ask my non-troll, but otherwise simplistic questions.

As to Bjorn not being able to take a drop pod, tell me whether I'm thinking straight as to the reason…units can only take dedicated transports if their own profile says they can - or, if they, as an HQ join a unit that says it can…so Grimnar and the rest can join reduced sized packs and ride into the game in their transports, as long as the armor doesn't add up too high for the transport's capacity, and since a drop pod only has enough capacity to fit 1 dreadnought (and no extra space) Bjorn can't ride in a drop pod (unless, of course, GW comes out with a FAQ saying that they intended him to all along and add drop pod to his profile?

I can add a Long Fang Pack Leader to a Long Fang pack, and add a Wolf Guard Pack Leader to the same Long Fang pack, and also attach an HQ to the same Long Fang pack - and if they number no more than 6 models total and are all wearing power armour, I could also put them in a Razorback?

I'm sure I've got more of these, but if I'm the only one who's wondering about these kind of things and asking these questions here for those who know to answer doesn't help anyone else other than me, I can stop masquerading as a troll and find another venue to ask instead. I really don't mind looking stupid but I don't want to waste people's time either…

Sounds good.

All points exactly correct.

I can add a Long Fang Pack Leader to a Long Fang pack

You don't add a Long Fang Pack Leader; the unit already comes with a "Squad Leader" (who can't take a Heavy Weapon) and from 1-5 Long Fangs (who have to take a Heavy Weapon).

, and add a Wolf Guard Pack Leader to the same Long Fang pack

Yes, you can add a Wolf Guard Pack Leader to the Long Fangs as they are listed as one of the Packs that Wolf Guard can get assigned to on the Wolf Guard entry in the army list.

, and also attach an HQ to the same Long Fang pack - and if they number no more than 6 models total and are all wearing power armour, I could also put them in a Razorback?

Yes, and yes. You can even go ahead and buy a Razorback for the unit if they number more than 6 models, but you can't get into it until they number 6 or less.

If you want to, you can just compile a big list of questions like these and see me a PM. I'd be happy to answer these slow pitches over the plate.

Valerian

I can't see Bjorn ever being able to drop pod. Firstly, as the games toughest walker it would be hell cheesy but secondly and most importantly Bjorn is only released from Stasis on the most important or dire of occasions. Important in so he can hear the old sagas and make sure the chapter and going in the right direction; and dire like when The Fang is being invaded and there is only a skeletal force to defend the citadel.

He is used in battle as a last resort and not for orbital drops.
