Running a Thunderwolf Mounted Wolf Lord On His Own

He might be depending on the consensus his gaming group comes to. My group agreed to S10, T5, based on consensus between TWC and TWM, and the way some other codexes worked for mounts upgrades as well.

I wouldn't count on the S10 for tournaments, though.

Until it's FAQed otherwise, BRB (Page 7) give him S9.

The +1 comes after x2.

Every stat addition 'adds to someones profile', so that part of the TWM entry is meaningless.

To use other than S9 currently, is to huse rule it.

I was going to run my TWM'd WL with:

Frost Axe, Belt of Russ, Saga of the Warrior Born and Runic Armour.

I'm playing against Orks so I plan to use him as a nasty counter attack unit. If I whittle down the Orks at range, my WL can charge in with 7 S6 attacks and kill the other Orks in sweeping advance if I get the to less than 11 Orks per unit.

Plus I'll have a couple of Lone Wolves running close to him if he needs extra punch.

Like I said, it's up for debate.

If you look at the Tyranid codex, which Phil Kelly also wrote, upgrades such as adrenal glands is added directly to the profile and thus included without the need of say.. 4(5). It is straight up 5.

These upgrades are applied in the same manner of wargear as the Thunderwolf Mount. So I'm going to use them as S10 until its FAQ'd. My gaming group already agreed it's true T5 because we have both Tyranid and Daemon players in there with the same  in their book. Don't tell me how my group how to play, k thanks.

.. You know it would be easy as pie to just convert a mounted Lord from Canis instead of buying the frilly High Elf chariot.

Canis is not an easily converted model. He's also expensive.

I bought two of them, and I really struggled to make the other look different.

Really? I thought that the marine part came separately from the wolf. How is the model divided up before it's assembled?

The marine part is not separate at all, and is actually connected to the wolf by his cape. The cape is the biggest blocks the way for any easy conversions.

It's broken up this way:

1. Wolf Body and Marine torso.

2. three separated logs.

3. Lightning claws

4. Backpack.

Thankfully, it's pretty easy to attach new arms.

Browsing throught the Codex I thought a Wolf Lord on TWM with Thunder Hammer, Storm Shield and Saga of the Warrior Born, can blat up to 5 models on the charge and even more on the following turn, at S10 and having the survivability to strike last with confidence.

As a Codex player I would find that model, with a bunch of Wolves to soak up fire, a real challenge to beat.
