Wolf Guard Nostromo
So, for once, I remembered to take enough pics to consitute a worthwhile batrep. I often remember my camera but then forget to take pics every turn which deletes the point  2k v World Eaters My 'infantry heavy' list - only 1 vehicle and that was a pod, which is pretty rare for me. In shorthand... 5 WGTDA in pod - 3 combi meltas 5 Long Fangs with cml WGTDA attached 4 x 10 GH - 2 with 2 PG, 2 with 2MG, smattering of MoW WGBL Nostromo - TDA, WC, SS. warrior born RP WGBL - SS, FB, wolfkin saga WGBL - TDA, CF 12 wolves - 4 with ICs, unit of 8 WE were tooled Daemon Prince, two heavily upgraded csm squads in rhinos and one in a pod, 5 chaos terminators, Khârn and bezerkers in LR , dread in a pod (I think thats right ^_^ ) We rolled Dawn of War capture and control. I won the roll I wanted and went 2nd. WE deployed having placed his objective quite centrally (little beer barrel under the bastion) in order to institute the melee his khornate force loves which suited me as my force on foot could reach both objs pretty easily. I put mine on the hill on my left under the cover of the Long Fangs target deployment area. Deployment: http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/awalker4/DSC00592.jpg Close of Turn 1: http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/awalker4/DSC00593.jpg Land raider arrived on my left with its scary contents. Everthing else entered pretty centrally. I risked the tda in an attempt to crunch the raider early - got 2 penetrating hits and rolled a pair of 3s. Dammit - no lascannons but that didn't really stop its main threat. Living lightning explodes the rhino on my right despite it popping smoke and takes several csms with it leaving them in no-mans land. The other rhino fails its difficult terrain test and smashes into the wall in front of it. This was pretty unlucky and meant my lack of fast movers would be less of a problem. Close of Turn 2: http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/awalker4/DSC00594.jpg My tda, having failed to sufficiently damage to raider, died pretty quickly in the charge of Khârn and his zerks and consolidate to be picked up next turn. The csm tda teleport in on the icon in the now rhino-less csms and their fire kills four GHs in the 'hill' squad - they now face the rp and alot of plasma in reply which takes its toll leaving two termies left. Close of Turn 3: http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/awalker4/DSC00595.jpg A key turn which swung the battle in my favour... The zerks load back into their raider and head full pelt towards my home obj, my fire pattering ineffectively off its hull. The key battle is on my right at this stage though. The csms attempt to charge the priest and remaining GHs but fail to the key difficult terrain test. They then get bolt pistoled, lightning in the face and charged leaving a single surviving icon bearer who manages to outrun his pursuers. The termies mistakenly enagage Nostromo's squad and he chops them both up before they can attack. The combination of the pile in move and a large consolidation roll brings them into charge range of the daemon prince. The rune priest dispels warptime, thanks be to Russ, and Nostromo and his I5 wolves kill the daemon prince with little fuss losing a single wolf in return before consolidating towards the central objective. Ale o'clock! Close of Turn 4: http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/awalker4/DSC00596.jpg The two csm pods arrive (yes we let csms use pods - it has always struck us as ridiculous that they can't - we play each other alot and do this kind of stuff pretty regularly) - crashing down next to my home obj with the central one looking pretty lost at this stage. I lose a few LFs and GHs who return fire and kill the majority of the csms and cut the ccw arm off the dread with a chainfist, effectively tarpitting it against an opponent with just the weapon to kill it. The central MoK csms charge in a vain attempt to stop the onrushing GHs and Nostromo, and while they hold in the first phase, they are cut down in the following one. The central objective looks secure. Close of Turn 5: http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/awalker4/DSC00597.jpg The bezerkers and Khârn get their second charge away and mutilate an entire GH squad. However, they are almost alone against a major part of my force, and the counter charge including the I5 wolves destroys them utterly - a thunder hammer in the face ending kharns personal bloodbath. The chainfist WGBL explodes the dread and moves onto the drop pod. Game continues into turn 6 Close of Turn 6: http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu349/awalker4/DSC00598.jpg Little of consequence - some movement for posturing, and I throw everything at the land raider (for about the 3rd turn in a row) with no visible effect. While pretty lucky generally, I can't seem to destroy raiders... pens fine but damage tables only seem to give me 3s or less. As a final act, the chainfist of the WGBL blows up the pod. Clear SW win - in control of both objs and with only two csm vehicles remaining, both damaged. So, conclusion? Im very aware of being outmaneuvered being a mech fan myself, but the csm rhinos biting it early and the drop pods turning up too late to turn the tide meant it wasn't a problem. Living lightning really is great against transports - D6 S7 hits is very handy). The cc effectiveness of my force was impressive considering khornate opposition, and my namesake Nostromo got a daemon prince kill under his belt thanks to warrior born and the rune priest dispelling warptime (which is a real pain and has been my downfall in the past... Nostromo undoubtedly owes him an ale!). Feedback on clarity of report appreciated - I'll try and post them more often :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/182685-bat-rep-remembered-to-take-enough-pics/ Share on other sites
Firenze
Not too bad a report. I try to make mine like a story to make it even more entertaining. But nice win! Forseti
A nice clean win, the blood god must have blessed that raider before the battle.
