Adir
Just curious, does anyone use null rods in their list? With the prevalence of psychic powers (JotWW anyone?) it seems like the ability to completely negate ALL psychic powers on the squad is A GOOD THING. I recently converted the AoBR termie sarge into an elite termie inquisitor wielding a null rod (DA power mace). He gets to be two ablative wounds for the squad, plus psychic defense, plus weak power weapon all for the low, low cost of only 60 pts! Attached to a monster GKGM retinue squad, he can shut down any and every psychic attack thrown at these guys. The only downside is that the GKGM can't force weapon anyone whilst the inquisitor is joined up. Just make sure he is clear of that unit before hitting any multi-wound characters in CC. VonWyll
Hi, I'm fairly new here, but this sounds to me like a fairly odd idea. Grey Knights have the Aegis which already gives them an built in protection against Psychic Powers, furthermore, your Grand Master's ability to force weapon things usually immune instant death a trick that seems too good to give away by throwing an Inquisitor with a null rod into the mix. Furthermore, Null Rods negate any Psychic Powers used by you as well, which again, is something that Grey Knight Terminators can surprise opponents with. I'm not entirely sure what your hoping to accomplish by doing this. I guess i have always felt that for 20pts, I would rather have a Psychic Hood on my Grand Master, allowing him to "Aegis" across the entire Battlefield and potentially protect every unit, as opposed to having one unit completely protected and thus I always felt that the Null Rod was a little lackluster. If the Null Rod could be used by a Grand Master, it would help as I believe wielding a Nemesis Force Weapon and Power Weapon gives you +1 attack. Ah well. templargdt
I've never used one, since for the same price I can get a hood, as the other guy mentioned. I think if I was doing a shooty Inquisitor, like with Psycannon and 3 Heavy Bolter Servitors, I'd consider it just to give Lash princes the finger. Other wise my stuff is all mech anyway. Gentlemanloser
I used to use one to kill Harlequins. Now, not so much. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/182895-null-rod-on-an-elite-inquistor/#findComment-2163628 Share on other sites
Wrath
I use one on my Inquisitor Lord's heavy bolter/psycannon/plasma cannon squad, but I do it regardless of utility just because I like the flavor of it. f.desrochers
I use the null rod on my IL gunline (psycannon and 3 x HB, 2 x mystics, sage) for anything above 1700 points; this is in addition to the psyhood, but the psyhood is likely to get dropped in the near future. The remainder of my list is typically mounted or Grey Knights and vehicles; Lash isn't so much an issue as JotWW will likely become; the null rod is a definite result detering the power. ;francois Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/182895-null-rod-on-an-elite-inquistor/#findComment-2164198 Share on other sites
