Doubling up on Librarians.

Ave Brothers.

I am contemplating running two Librarians in my strikeforce and would like to know how those of you who have used two of them have fared in battle. I have been monitoring the B&C Forums for some time now and decided to join. I have recently gotten into the 40K hobby after knowing about the game for many years and have completed enough for 1000 pt games. I have played only a handful of games so far and I am 50/50 with win loss. I have been wargaming for a long time now and finally have the chance to serve the Emperor with His newest chapter the Praetorian Legion Chapter of the Adeptus Astartes.

Brothers, I seek your knowledge of the viability of the two Librarian led force.

I thank you for your time and your shared experience.

I'm not sure how many people have tried out two librarians. I'm considering it for my Blood Ravens army, but I think overall one Librarian is good, but there are strong diminshing returns with two. I think the best Libarian powers are Null Zone and Avenger, plus the hood is nice. You only need one hood or null zone guy. So what is the other guy going to do? You could have a Gate of Infinity/Force Dome guy roll with something like a Sternguard squad in a pod, I guess.

Overall, I think you're not going to find a plethora of advice on this topic. I'd proxy the models and try it out! Good luck!

It was confusing because they would always finish one another's sentences off, look at one another and then one would say something disjointed or burst out laughing. So Champion Minsc lopped their heads off and we burnt them, armour and all.

Mutant scum :HQ:

Their Captain was confused by the incident report but we were convinced they were about to manifest Nurgle possession ;) . It was for their own good.

I would use one with MotA and Quickening and the other with Null Zone and GoI.

I haven't tried it with my Ultras yet but it looks interesting. (and my Templars would have Marshal_Wilhelm's reaction  . ABHOR THE WITCH! DESTROY THE WITCH! )

It just occurred to me;

What about a bike libby with vortex of doom and force dome? Put him with a unit of bikers. This allows you to move 12" and shoot the str10 ap1 pieplate, to an effective 24" range. I can imagine it working real well in a khan list, too, with an outflanking librarian coming out of the board edges and shooting something. Would make your opponent cringe, for sure. :D

Run it with Vortex and Null Zone instead. That way anything that makes its Invulnerable save versus the S10, AP1 hit has to reroll it.

I know about the great uses of nullzone. :D

Sadly, there are few people in my local metagame who make extensive use of invulnerable saves. There's only the occasional th/ss termies and some special characters, and there's only one daemon army, and that one rarely plays. So, the nullzone isn't really worth it as there aren't many things I can use it against + using that + vortex would mean the librarian would have to be an epistolary, and I don't really feel like paying all those points for him.

The force dome would only really be there for the rare situations when the librarian is out of range with the vortex, or the bikers are holding an objective or something.

so do people normaly pay the points to use 2 powers a turn? i've never used that... seems FAR too expensive, and turns a lovely cheap, useful HQ into something taking up a lot of points and needing babysitting to not risk those points.

The only reason I'd ever get an epistolary is if I was rolling a librarian with sternguard.

That way you can use gate of infinity to teleport the sterns near an enemy squad, and rapid fire + use avenger to wipe out the squad.

Otherwise, I don't think it's worth it.
