Painting a thors hammer?

Try to paint first of all a rectangle as the actual head of the hammer.

After that paint a thinner, squatter rectangle underneath.

Have the top one horizontal, and the bottom one vertical.

Go back to the top one and round off the corners and your pretty much done.

Try this out on some scrap paper or something first though so you know how it'll look on the model.

Good Luck.

Hi there, free hand isnt easy for everyone, and just needs plenty of practice.

However, another method to try, is the magic tape stencil, especially as this is a simple geometric shape.

Ok...

Magic Tape: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic_Tape

Either

A. carefully draw on your deisgn onto magic tape, carefully cut out, and use as a stencil

B. if your design is geometric (as yours is) then after you have applied the base coats to your sholder pat, use the tape to make the outlines of your image, and fill in the middle open area with paint.

Maybe a grey with light blue on the edges to represent it being electrically charged? Remember though its a short handled Hammer, so no 2 handed thunder hammer type models.

Here is another Pic of the Thunder God with his hammer (Mjolnir) in all his glory:
