Red Corsairs, fluffy

The previous Codex Chaos Space Marines simply only showed some of those that decided to just cross out the symbols.

where was that said ? not in the dex and not in any IA article I can remember .

As I have been trying to explain in a previous post, there have been a few instances with red/black Red Corsairs long before the current Codex Chaos Space Marines.

2007 - 4th Ed C:CSM --> Red/Black

2005 - WD303/WD310 --> Red/Black

(WD303 contained an article about Renegade Chapters which IIRC featured an "Index Astartes" style illustration of a Red/Black Red Corsair. The WD310 included Kill Team rules for bosses, which IIRC featured some Red7Black painted red Corsairs. I might be remembering the wrong article.)

2002 - 3.5 C:CSM --> original Chapter colour with crossed out symbols

1999 - "Into the Maelstrom" (Novel) --> Red/Black

That novel cover showed a Huron Blackheart Artwork (complete with Hamadrya) by Wayne England.

Thus my interpretation that the Marines shown in the 3.5 Codex Chaos Space Marines are just one particular example of how some new Red Corsair members defile their armour, and do not represent the main Red Corsair uniform.
