New Codex and the basic units.

So, this is specifically for Blood Claws, Grey Hunters, Scouts and Bikers. Nothing else, please.

How has the new codex changed the way these four squad types are set up, if at all? I can see a couple weapon swaps that need to be made, particularily in my first Swiftclaw squad.

So, is the typical BC and GH loadout still 2x Plasma pistol plus Fist or Power weapon?

And bikes, are they still done best with a Metla/Fist for Anti-vehicle work, and a Flamer/Psword for anti-infantry work?

How about scouts, now that we lack shotguns? (Due to a silly error, yes..)

Losing one of my CCWs in my GH squads was a kick in the teeth.

My Fire Support Packs always ran with just a fist, but my Assault packs had a PF+PW or 2xPW in them, always.... and now I cant do that without a WG... wich means I have to have atleast three packs I want to do that with.... wich means larger battles only. Its not horrifying, but it is annoying.

My BCs lost two powerfists... Im not giving them special weapons, so I dont care that they now have an extra one. So Im making two more BCs to run with them and in the mean time Im just not fielding the full pack.

Scouts.... My 5 man scout squad had Meltagun, 2xPP, 2xPW- and was all the old metal ones so theres no hope for it. I just plain need a new scout squad if Im going to field them.

Bikes? I have a total of 3 bikes and 2 attack bikes... I can see swiftclaws being used in large numbers with that 5pt price drop and doing well as a fast assault unit. Still, at 18pts I think more peole will be running Skyclaws, and trying out the novelty of having our JP HQs pack again. But, if your taking a biker pack Id actually say Flamers+Fists to give them some flexability- because you want to be able to punch through any horde you hit. Still, thats just theory hammer at this point- meltaguns might actually be preferable to punch transports with, but Id rather leave that to my LR AT fire.

Only one plasma pistol or power weapon for grey hunters and bloodclaws. Bikers can only have on power weapon and for mm you have to buy a attack bike with a heavy bolter and upgrade it to a mm, pain in the ass.

No, not multi-melta, just a meltagun.

Just to clear up the bikes options:

You can take a meltagun (or flamer, plasmagun or plasma pistol) on one of your bikers. You can also take a power weapon or power fist.

You may also add an attack bike with a heavy bolter. The heavy bolter may be upgraded to a multimelta.

As for optimal equipment, I'm not sure. What I will say is that the Headstrong rule (no shooting if you're within assault range unless you have a wolf guard or independant character in the unit) can make it hard to use that meltagun due to the short range.

Mine do have a power fist for anti-vehicle, and the entire squad has meltabombs.

Due to the low WS/BS, of the blood claws, they're tied to being purely an anti-troop option :

Blood claws - Flamer (2 at 15models) and a power weapon.

Swiftclaw biker pack - Flamer, power weapon, attack bike with default HB.

Skyclaw assault pack - Flamer, power weapon, a model with the MotW.

Grey Hunter packs, are quite flexible, easily taking up either an anti-troop or anti-tank role.

Two plasma guns, and a power weapon, for anti-troop.

Two meltaguns, and a power fist, for anti-tank.

I really try to squeeze in those wolf standards. Re-roll 1s, once a battle, can really be amazing.

If you can afford the points, the MotW, is a nasty surprise!

I equip my scouts with a meltagun, 2 plasma pistols, and a model with the MotW. Any pack that can "gnaw" through vehicles and crisis/broadsides alike, is fine by me. Sometimes I'll add melta bombs, if I believe to be facing LRs or a Baneblade.

Because of Blood Claws, I feel really restricted.

Low BS/WS makes me look the other way. And it irks me because I loose bikes and attack bikes.

BC's are substandard in my opinion. They are basically scouts with power armour.

Yeah but with all the attacks they can dish out, how can you just look the other way?
