Volth
How many Wolf Blades are usually in the service of house Belisarius? Is it just a handful (like a Death Watch Kill Team) or would it be a feasible theme for an entire army? Didn't read any of the novels, so it is hard to get a clear image about the Wolf Blades for me. DV8
Exactly 24. In return, House Belisarius gives the Space Wolves chapter 24 of their best Navigators. Volth
Is there any hint on how they are equipped? Are they operating as a whole or individually? Beef
Where does it say 24. Not doubting that brother just want to know for my records. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/183084-question-about-the-wolf-blades/#findComment-2165741 Share on other sites
Wispy
In the Wolf Blade novel. Also mentioned in Greyhunter. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/183084-question-about-the-wolf-blades/#findComment-2165747 Share on other sites
DV8
They're all equipped with an eclectic mix of wargear. Essentially whatever they can lay their hands on, or whatever they want. They have access to the Belisarius armory, so I can imagine them being equipped akin to Wolf Guard. There's no mention of them having any access to TDA or Rune Armor though (only Power Armor). In terms of how they operate, anything goes. They can operate anywhere from individuals to full squads. Very rarely are all 24 deployed together though (the novel Wolf Blade has Ragnar working exclusively with 2/3 other Wolf Blades (whose names escape me). Don't forget that the Wolf Blade can command the Belisarius house guard (essentially the Navigator House's private army). Volth
Awesome, thank you! Let's me think about a SW/DH-Army with Grey Knights acting as Custodes and Inq. Stormtroopers as Belisarius house guard. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/183084-question-about-the-wolf-blades/#findComment-2165766 Share on other sites
Hfran Morkai
Aye, I imagine them typically being empliyed as individual bodyguards to high Navigators but will form squads to deal with matters that affect the safety of the house, or perhaps even its profits... Famous Wolfblades: Valkoth (Wolfblade leader during Ragnar's time) Ragnar Blackmane Torin Haegr the Mountain Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/183084-question-about-the-wolf-blades/#findComment-2165788 Share on other sites

Famous Wolfblades: Valkoth (Wolfblade leader during Ragnar's time) Ragnar Blackmane Torin Haegr the Mountain Right those are their names! Valkoth you never see in action, but: Torin wields a Bolter Haegr wields a Thunder Hammer (that he loves to throw) Ragnar wields Bolt Pistol and Chainsword although at the end of Wolfblade he is gifted with what I would assume is the Frost Blade he wields to this day. EDIt: Don't forget that Logan Grimnar himself was a Wolf Blade. Hfran Morkai
Torin is also known to wield a heavy bolter in some cirumcstances but getting away with that might be difficult, also he has a thin blade, doesn't mention anything about power weapon but it could be Also Haegr occassionaly wields a pair of bolt pistols, but he doesn't like it and with Arjac's rules they can be quite fitting Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/183084-question-about-the-wolf-blades/#findComment-2165793 Share on other sites

Hfran Morkai
Torin the wayfarer to be exact. Thank ye for jogging my memory. Stormtroopers as Belisarius house guard. *thwap!* No Custodes. Navigators are not gaurded by custodes... they gaurd the Emperor. Otherwise, that sounds cool. Volth
Ouch, you're right! What a bad mistake! I didn't mean to disesteem our battle brothers of the honorable Grey Knights, though. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/183084-question-about-the-wolf-blades/#findComment-2166341 Share on other sites
LoneSniperSG
Ouch, you're right! What a bad mistake! I didn't mean to disesteem our battle brothers of the honorable Grey Knights, though. :) Now you get to be a Wolfblade, har har. So far as I could tell from the books, the Wolfblade almost act like secret agents. Not really so much as sleuthing, but they're often split up into small groups or singles to accomplish whatever needs accomplishing. Volth
I see, so HQs Lone Wolves and so would make quite good choices, while both SW troop choices are rather nonsense. This makes things difficult. Is there anything mentioned about Belisarius heraldy, colors or iconography? LoneSniperSG
Actually I thought the Belisarius heraldry also had a wolf. ... maybe it was a lion. We'll wait until Grey gets back.. Nakuth
I believe the Belisarius heraldry is a wolf and an eye, sort of crossing each other. I think. I have recently read the second omnibus, but have just gotten back from a microbrewery expo, so the Fenrisian ale is clouding my recollection a little.....
