Experiences with Arjac?

I fight with CSM often,

and have some trouble dealing with Princes..

I first thought of using mounted Wolf Lords(with WC/SS/BeastS). With some TWCs.

Pricey, but will deal with princes very well - as well as any other enemies like berzerkers.

But then, there seemed to be a much better answer for the Prince - Arjac..

Arjac will hit 5 on the first round of assault, and practically 5 power weapon wounds to the Prince(necklace, re-roll rule, TH).

Yeah he has only 2wounds, but it won't hardly matter, because he practically will have like, 12 wounds?.

The drawback is that he will be foot-slogging(or maybe in LR?)

So maybe a skilled player might just ignore the guy :) - unless he rides in a Land raider or something.

So, I would like to hear your experiences with him.

Good experiences? Prefered role? Is he hard to avoid? Is he easy to avoid?

Any answer would be greatly appreciated. '-'a

Thanks.

Though I've never used him, you could stick him in a Drop Pod.

Drop Pod him with a pack of Wolf Guard firstly, it allows wounds to be soaked up before Arjac can get around to using his Thunderhammer. Second it gets that many more chances to wound the Daemon Prince without the need for Arjac. I did this with the Nightbringer and took him down before Arjac could even get around to playing with him.

My problem with Arjac is overkill.

He's bloody awesome, but you have to hide him in a squad, because he's a 2 wounds model still. If you stick him in a half-decent TDA squad, they may kill or severely weaken the enemy before he gets around to swingin'. I used him in 2 games, and sure, he struck a deathblow to a Big Bad both times, but it could've just as well been someone else who doesn't cost as much.

I've been using Arjac in most every game so far, in a drop pod with 4 other termies. He really is a good buy for his points cost, just think of him as a second HQ choice.

I also play a CSM army pretty regularly, and man that guy loves his Daemon Princes. The first game I used him, he threw a Nurgle prince his way and though that it would be enough. Arjac ate that prince right up, then proceeded to take out a defiler before he bought it.

Since then, Arjac usually gets just about an entire army thrown at him when he arrives, but I think that this is part of what makes him so valuable, at least in my army. Drop him in on the first turn away from your line of advancement and you give your opponent a choice. Either commit to dealing with Arjac and Co. and let the rest of my army advance unimpeded, or try and ignore him and let him run around in the backfield blowing stuff up. Either way, I win.

@ Olgerth Istaarn: I've had this though before too, but I think the fact that he is Arjac gives him a psychological effect which helps make his squad that much more of a distraction.
