muzzyman1981
I really like Bjorn but when would it be worth it to take our beloved Venerable Dreadnought? Hotspur
I say whenever you can find the points! Realistically, though, probably not in engagements less than 1250-1500pts, as he is pretty pricey. It would be really funny to see just him and a squad of WG on the table in a small engagement... Talk about saga worthy! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/183291-when-to-take-bjorn-the-fell-handed/#findComment-2167776 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
*Grumble grumble* Worth more than a landraider.... but in 1/3 of the missions part of me wants him dead so I can get the 3rd objective on the table, and then hide a couple GHs behind him. And that feels... wrong. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/183291-when-to-take-bjorn-the-fell-handed/#findComment-2167778 Share on other sites
BLACKHWK
I agree with Grey Mage. He could win you the game if you get him killed and then claim him as an objective, although in a kill point game you might as well gave your opponent an extra 3 kill points Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/183291-when-to-take-bjorn-the-fell-handed/#findComment-2167790 Share on other sites
Jonas Stromclaw
In shooty lists he'd be good. The TLLC or PC option makes him pretty shooty plus he makes an excellent counter assault unit. If he dies its an objective right near the rest of your army. Take him, couple of longfangs, couple of GH squads, a whirlwind or two, maybe a predator, and you'll be out shooting most Imp guard gunlines, though tau would still give you trouble. Valerian
I really like Bjorn but when would it be worth it to take our beloved Venerable Dreadnought? He's definitely worthwhile when you are using a defensive scheme of maneuver, and the enemy is coming to you; his lack of mobility is less of an issue then. With the last codex my generic Venerable Dreadnought version of Bjorn destroyed a 20 Ork strong mob of 'Ard Boys all by himself (AP4 Assault Cannon + AP4 Heavy Flamer, plus multiple DCCW attacks on the charge = dead Mob); I can barely imagine what Bjorn will do with his improved WS, BS and 5 Attacks on the charge. I suppose that he would be just as good against Tyranids, but would have to break out the old 'Nids codex and have a look around. I haven't seen anyone around here play them in forever so I've forgotten what they might have that would make them any different than an Ork horde. He'd probably be less effective in the offense (against IG and Tau, for example) whose gun-lines and high strength weapons would give even Bjorn some trouble, particularly since he has to walk across the board.
