I recently seen a friends epic army and was amazed at what he had.

so I was maybe thinking of starting one as the wolves (groans from the bank manager as i've seen the price of some bits).

dose anyone here have an army so? as I seem to get the impression that it is not supported anymore...? reminds me of when I had an english civil war army with pike men calvetry etc same scale.

any tips regarding it...

thx

They've got all the living rulebooks on the site for specialist games now hosted on the GW main site with all the old online fanatic content hosted at tacticalwargames.

Unfortunatley there's no wolf specific content to building an army list but hopefuly the marine articles will give you an idea

hope this helps

I play Epic nearly exclusively, and always in a campaign format. My army is Imperial, i.e. Space Wolves and Imperial Guard and I always play against Eldar because, well the other 3 players at my club have an Imperial army and two have Eldar.

Epic is a great game, focusing more on formations and how they react on a larger scale . That is Epic sees the big picture! Titans, armoured formations , navy air squadrons and infantry. Your problem when building an army is what formations will you use and how they react and support each other in order to have a flexible force. You will never concern yourself with micro-scale problems like 'how am I going to arm my Wolf Lord'!

Unfortunately, Epic's popularity was shreaded with the Epic 40000 edition of the game which was highly tactical but vague. Epic Armageddon is a much better version IMO, and its the one we currently play in our campaingns. Unfortunately Epic is not supported anymore by GW (who just produced the minis for some of the armies). If you want to build an army I'd go for Ebay.

If your interested in campaigns I suggest getting the Planetary Empires box set since it will help you set up quicker. In our campaigns, we fight smaller battles or skirmishes with 40K which adds diversity. Also, sometimes, according to the campaign narrative, we play a game of epic and 40K concurrently where the micro 40k battle effects the macro Epic battle. The last game I had like this was where I was defending an Imperial City from the Eldar using Epic. At the same time we had another table set up with a underground complex. This complex lead to the nuclear plasma reactors that powered the city's defence lasers. In brief, the Eldar's mission was to destroy this facility thus cripplinging the cities defence lasers and allowing the Eldar to deploy there whole invasion force. This was played with 40K. After one turn of Epic we played one of 40K, and so on.
