opinions on a land raider

ok, this isn't the normal 'What type should i use' question, more a topic for me to ask your opinion on a land raider conversion.

i've recently brought myself a redeemer, not assembled it yet, but i have been thinking of making a pre-heresy patter raider that at some point has been refitted with flamestorm cannons.

i know it should be a phobos/godhammer pattern (whatever you wish to call it) but i play city fight and so find the redeemer a far more appealing option, and besides the pre-heresy style land raiders look sexier.

what do you guys think, do you think i should go for it, or would you have objections to me doing it?

i've seen some of the raiders converted by our fellow wolves here (especially the ones with the decorative panels on the sides) but do you have any suggestions to help set it apart from the rest?

i'm really unsure on this guys, so some help would be great, even if you just throw ideas around...

also if i do go for it, do you reckon i should just fork out for a (probably ill fitting forgeworld kit) or use some plasticard and patience to make the modifications?

any help would be great, and an ale for anyone who helps...

I say plasticard. I love the pre-Heresy look with the elongated sponsons, but they're a bit pricey from FW, and I've seen several stories of that particular conversion kit being a real bastard to put together. Flamestorm cannons will look great in those beefy sponsons, too. If anybody complains that the Redeemer isn't pre-Heresy, I suggest that you just stick your tongue out at them.

But then, I'm probably insane. I'm still working on converting my Land Raider into an 8x8 wheeled deathwagon.

lol, for some reason this sort of thing popped into my head when i read 8x8 wheeled deathwagon

imagine that with wolves hanging off the side, air horn blaring and a heavy bolter in the passenger seat...

Huh. Who knew that Optimus Prime was a Space Wolf? I always figured there was more than meets the eye to him...
