Hjaertrr
So i'm in the process of building three grey hunter packs and i'm trying to acheive as much diversity as possible, but in most of my proto-type lists all three units tend to have mostly the same equipment. Here's my question, would anybody, or do you think anybody would be opposed to me modelling a grey hunter with a thunder hammer as a 'power' hammer? It does say power weapon, not axe or sword. If I clearly specified the weapon at the beginning of the game do you think any problems would arrise from this? I can see there might possibly be some confusion, but all 3 packs have 2 assualt weapons and are 10 strong so it couldn't be a wolf guard and therefore couldn't be a thunder hammer. Cheers. Hfran Morkai
I wouldn't have a problem with it, I love the look of the hammers and so long as it's made clear to your oppponent you should be fine, however tournaments might throw up other issues Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/183463-alternative-power-weapons/#findComment-2169820 Share on other sites
Solid Zaku
Go for actual war-hammers. Maybe steal some Warrior Priest models' weapons and convert them into Wolfy versions. Otherwise you may have some trouble with confused opponents. WG Vrox
Sure , but I would shorten it by cutting off the power cables thus shorting the shaft. Also you may want to shave the sides of the hammer to make it less bulky so it looks less like a thunder hammer. Just be sure to tell your opponent at the beginning of your game that it's a PW. Dark Bjoern
As long as you explain your opponent what the hammer "counts as" i see no problem. AdeptusDavidus
Yeah, I think the key thing here would be to make sure that "power hammers" and "thunder hammers" look pretty distinct from one another, since they're pretty different in the rules. You can also make spears very easily, either from bits (banner pole + random swordy blade), or scratchbuilding (I've made some from 1/16" aluminum tubing - the stuff's cheap and it's just ridiculously easy to make spears, and other weapons, from it). Hjaertrr
Thats what I had hoped, thanks for the fast replies. I don't tend to play in tournies so that won't really be a problem, and if I do I can always fish a pw model out of somewhere. Heimdal
Or you could get some magnets and switch weapons according to what need you have at the moment Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/183463-alternative-power-weapons/#findComment-2169850 Share on other sites
Grimwulfe
How do you have 2 power weapons in a 10 man GH sqaud with no WG? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/183463-alternative-power-weapons/#findComment-2169882 Share on other sites
Hfran Morkai
How do you have 2 power weapons in a 10 man GH sqaud with no WG? He doesn't. He has two special weapons: Flamers, meltas or plasma guns. Clone
I'd say just make the Power Hammer smaller than a Thunder Hammer and take off the power cables.
