Ok... so i was playing a battle with my friend and he brought up that my army would never be aloud into a tournament.

my GH are all armed with bolters some with one hand some with two so only some of them are carrying CCWs. if i went to a WYSIWYG tounament, would i not be aloud to play since only some of my marines carry them?

thanks!

its like saying bowmen in fantasy cant shoot their bows because they do not have bow strings...

WYSIWYG is no longer in the rule book. I like to think that GW has decided that "sense" not even common sense exist and that reasonable people can understand that my models though not equipped physically have all the options they carry by default. When people were buying grenades and upgrading models with bolters is made sense and was needed, in this day and age come on. :)

Could you imagine if we had to also make sure all our models had wolf tooth necklaces on them to gain that ability? If we had to take off all our wolf tails because it would be against WYSIWYG if the model didn't buy a wolf tail talisman? It would make our armies very boring since none of them could have wolfy bitz on them since they couldn't have them. Also all of our models would HAVE to have frag and krak grenades on them....and bolt pistols....and CCWs....and.....etc etc etc.

I know GW doesn't allow for any sort of sense but we should. Next time he says something ask him to see his models and say you win if his models don't have every bit of wargear on them. =P

Short answer: your opponent either completely missed the point or is being a jackass.

Long answer: The rulebook does comment on WYSIWYG, but in the character section and not only does it specifically refer to the options rather than the basic gear (that you have by default), it also says its fine to be lenient on such things anyway. So your opponent is wrong both because you dont need to visually represent equipment you have by default (so your guys with bolters dont need to show pistols, ccws, grenades as it is automatically assumed; for optional extras like powerfists and meltaguns then you should visually represent these, but they dont necassarily need to be exact so long as its explained before the game), and because he and tournaments are encouraged not to be draconian anyway.
