whitewolfmxc
so how effective and what scenarios are good for using the standard ? since it only works on the next assault phase , it would be wise to activate the standard on the enemies turn to get the bonus at your assault phase ? Also i have no idea why Phill decided to make such nonessential type of usage , cant he just made it we use it right away once activated ? why wait ? Vlk
The "next assault phase" means "the following assault phase", I believe. It seems quite clear to me. So you can use the standard right after you declare you want to use it. Wolfe
Always activate it the first time you get a chance to. That way you'll get more re-rolls Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/183506-wolf-standards-and-its-usuage/#findComment-2170397 Share on other sites
Bullvine
Yeh its the next assult phase, so i use it if i'm going to be assulted, & remeber you get to re-roll any 1's in the assult phase so its to-hit rolls, to-wound rolls, & armour saves! it is worth putting in, its turn a few assults in my favour :) Bullvine Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/183506-wolf-standards-and-its-usuage/#findComment-2170410 Share on other sites

Wispy
You can also re-roll your Mark of the Wulfen roll. Or Ragnar's Insane Bravado... I think. ICs would be able to use the banner, no, if they joined the unit? Brother-Captain Sicarius
and difficult terrain (not to mention dangerous ter.) as it also happens in the assault phase (when you charge ^_^ ) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/183506-wolf-standards-and-its-usuage/#findComment-2171313 Share on other sites
whitewolfmxc
you sure that we do dangerous terrain test during charging ? God i might have missed that rule lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/183506-wolf-standards-and-its-usuage/#findComment-2171384 Share on other sites
Valerian
you sure that we do dangerous terrain test during charging ? God i might have missed that rule lol Yes you do, however, there usually isn't a whole lot of terrain that gets classified as "dangerous" on most game boards. Additionally, defenders don't typically choose to hide in dangerous terrain if there is any, so it is unlikely that you would very often be charging through it. 40k Junkie
The question I have is this... Leadership Test if you loose close combat. Is that consider part of the assualt phase? Then that instance it would work against us. Valerian
The question I have is this... Leadership Test if you loose close combat. Is that consider part of the assualt phase? Then that instance it would work against us. Yes, the Leadership Test for Morale is part of the Assault Phase. Whether that would work against a unit using their Wolf Standard depends on the wording of the rule for the Standard. I don't have my codex with me, but if it uses the language of "can" or "may" reroll any rolls of a 1, then we would be fine - just don't choose to take the option to reroll in the instance of the Ld check. If it says that all rolls of a 1 will be rerolled, then yes, it could be a minor disadvantage - but not enough of one to make the Wolf Standard not worth taking anyway. The_Iron_Wolf
It is "May" reroll, so yeah we don't have to, meaning if we did lose assaults we don't have to worry about that. Wolf Lord Cuneglas
I played a game yesterday and I found the banner was well worth the points. It's amazing just how many re-rolls you end up getting. jimmyjames2112
I played a game yesterday and I found the banner was well worth the points. It's amazing just how many re-rolls you end up getting. indeed, Always take them with GH squads, And Yes. you do get to reroll gor ICs in the unit. and WGs Even if it turns one roll of a 1 on a armor save to a 3. you have just made up +5 points and that isnt including the effect that adds to combat resolution Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/183506-wolf-standards-and-its-usuage/#findComment-2172295 Share on other sites
Natanael
I run it on all my GH packs and it have never let me down. It pays for itselt if you re-roll one armour save and make it. MotW is still the best GH upgrade tough :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/183506-wolf-standards-and-its-usuage/#findComment-2172347 Share on other sites
