Wolf guard and kill points

There are a few threads with this question I think. I run it as your wolfguard packleader is the sargent so if you kill that unit then you gain a kill point he has no bearing on the wolfguard bodyguard unit which if killed (your not having a good day by now) will give your opponent another kill point.

I'm slightly surprised that a search doesn't reveal much discussion on this...

Personally, I think it's something that each gaming group needs to house rule for themselves.

It seems to me that there are essentially two scenarios:

1) A Wolf Guard pack is fully split up amongst x numbers of squads. If my opponent manages to wipe out all the squads, I'd be happy to concede a kill point (I'm probably being spanked anyway)

2) You have x WGs in a pack and some of those WGs split away from the pack into other squads. If the main pack is wiped out, I think it would be unsportsmanlike to deny your opponent a kill point even though you could argue that there are still squad members left of the WG pack. (Do they count towards the 1-in-5 for heavy weapons? Well, then they must be part of that squad...).

So, how I'm going to play it is, if 1 occurs, I'm probably being spanked hard andif my opponent want that extra KP, I really don't care. He can have it.

If it's 2, then I personally would feel rubbish denying my opponent that KP. But of course, if it's the difference between a win and a loss/draw then I can see that it's needed to be houseruled in advance...

Humm good point but lets say you split your unit so that most are in other units what then? I would just say 1 unit one kill point so if your wolfguard unit is killed theres a kill point as you have chosen to reduce their squad size, the packleaders arn't count towards that squad, however if your packleader's unit is wiped out then you gain the kill point there

and that is how it works. it would be the same as under the old codex. if you have 3 pack leaders (as 1 WG entry selection) and they went to other units that unit is no longer there, but the OP did not kill them, no KP. the 3 X packs that you sent them to are all wiped out, thats 3 KP. not 4. once a WG is assigned to the pack, after the list is constructed but before deployed, they are for all intents and purposes part of that unit. they do not count towards that units special rules, such as 10 men for a free shooty weapon, with the exception of wolf scouts.

I was wondering, If you let a wolf guard join another squad does that model also have to be killed to get a kill point for the wolf guard unit??

No, he is an upgrade character for the unit he was just attached to- he in no way affects the KPs of the WG unit, nor does he change the scoring status of the unit he is attached to.

He does count towards the 5 WG needed for a heavy weapon, BECAUSE at the time of purchase he was part of the squad. That however has nothing to do with the battle as it is fought.
