Opinions on Colour Scheme?

I may have this in the wrong spot ... couldn't really tell what sub-forum to put it in so figured this would be close, at least until I start the army building blog.

Below are 4 shots of my proposed colour scheme ... I expect I'm going to end up with a DA sucessor chapter as their fluff speaks to me the most ... but since each codex brings something differant I definately want to have a colour scheme/backstory all my own ... just in case :P

I THINK these schemes will look good on the tabletop, but my painting skills are definately at beginner or less currently so I'm not sure my eye for "matching colours" really works ... so I'm looking for feedback before I start the modelling process. Anything you can say to help would be appreciated (even - "It SUCKS!", as long as you can explain why).

Colour Scheme:Chaos Black, Boltgun Metal, Dwarf Bronze, Blood Red

Assault Scheme:Chaos Black, Boltgun Metal, Dwarf Bronze, Blood Red, Dark Angels Green

Robed Scheme:Chaos Black, Boltgun Metal, Dwarf Bronze, Blood Red, Dark Angels Green

... and the one I'm most worried about ...

Terminator Scheme:Chaos Black, Boltgun Metal, Dwarf Bronze, Blood Red, Dark Angels Green, Enchanted Blue

Thanks in advance for the advice - Dunedon

The bronze is a good contrast to the black, I must say. However, the gray on the armor looks like a bit too much of a sudden change. What would be better is a more gradual turn to gray by using multiple shades that grow from dark to light. Unfortunately, I can't access my pics of my DIY chapter, the Howling Sons, which gives a good example of this, but when I get home I can post a picture of one of them to give you an example of that effect.

You saw the beginner painter skill right :P That being said, I'd love to see your example ... I'm going to more than likely TRY using highlighting, washes and some differant paint mixes to get some "lighting" effects on the actual models ... but it's going to be a lot of time spent on the tutorials here and coolminiornot practicing I think.

Thanks for the comments so far. - Dunedon

I would agree. Silver and gold don't usually go together very well but for a few circumstances (like Iron Warriors), as both compete to be the contrasting colour. Also, the silver may take away from any highlighting you do on the black, making it look rather boring. I'd suggest just changing the silver to black and leave your guys with a simple, 3 colour, paint scheme: black, bronze/gold, green

An additional question, can you water down and layer the GW metallics the same way you would the regular paints ... and then do the highlighting and shadowing by adding progressive lighter/darker thin layers as appropriate?

If not, I'm going to have to figure out NMM as well it seems :)
