Mar Bloodaxe
Not sure if I want to spend 10.00 bucks. Plus there are different versions of Snake Eyes. Timber looks different in the "Rise of Cobra" version. Newobmij
I'm the guy that posted those on here a few weeks ago. Yes, there are two versions, but they both work fine. I've made 4 of them, and I buy the Snake Eyes, take out the wolf, then resell it for $4 making it a $4 wolf, a few spare marine bits, and some epoxy putty. Now the only problem is that stores are only carrying the second wave of G.I. Joe movie figures, which has Snake Eyes with no wolf. Also, the older wolf with the 25th anniversary release was a much nicer pose to work with if you manage to find that. If you have one and are trying this, cut the legs at the hip first. Hold the leg up to the side of the wolf and mark a line where it's going to press into the wolf's fur. It's easier to use a dremmel, but a sharp exacto blade will work as well. If you want the easier approach, just cut out a large square from his back, fill it with putty and adjust the legs and hips however you like. While the putty is still curing you can resculpt it to look like fur or make it into a saddle. For the harness straps around the wolf, I used black electrical tape with a thin layer of superglue over it to make it stiffer. The plastic does not take well to most paints without primer, so I highly suggest you prime the whole thing after you have the building finished before you paint. Chucku
I just picked up a few wolves from Ebay for testing. This looks like a good option for Thunderwolves! Wispy
they look to be the right sized, but my biggest concern is that they ARE $10 toys, and may not have the amount of detail I desire. Chucku
post pics so we can see what wolves they are Chucku I don't think I can link the ebay images now that the auction is closed. Paid an average of $12 each with shipping. I haven't drank the Thunderwolf Koolaid fully yet but want to give them a go. Should be a fun project. CainTheHunter
Looks promising - at least this is cheaper than the previous version with Orbros metal minis. Still, I hate when the price for shipping is almost the same as for the minis and buying these from ebay UK is even more expensive. Another way could be playing ThunderCATS instead by using plastic lions from HE chariot set... Update.. Just been checkin' D&D miniatures range. They do have some wolves there, and some of them seem to be quite appropriate. See dire wolf and timber wolf entries: http://ddmdb.com/tags/show/wolf Of course, they are on ebay, prices ranging from auctions till BINs at 15 USD (not cheap). But I have no idea about their scale and how would a SW rider look on a top of it. Night Runner
I think there the best and cheapest alternative so far. They are also well proportioned, and the way they are posed allows for easy converting. Edit: I am refering to the 1st G.I.Joe wolf in the post by 40k Junkie.
