Melchiah
Just getting back into the 40K hobby, and having always liked The Blood Angels and their successor Chapters, decided to have a go at The Flesh Tearers colour scheme, forgetting completely how tricky red can be to paint!! So, here's a shot of what I'm currently working on: http://i1019.photobucket.com/albums/af317/MattCaine/Terminator01.jpg This is my first mini in about three years, still very much WIP, but fairly pleased with it so far... C&C welcome! Melchiah. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/183845-flesh-tearers/ Share on other sites
cathar the great
The red looks very nice. How did you do it? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/183845-flesh-tearers/#findComment-2173493 Share on other sites
Melchiah
Cheers! :eek Pretty simple, just a little time consuming: Chaos Black undercoat, Mechrite Red, Red Gore, Baal Red wash, Blood Red highlights. lhg033
very nice - have been trying to decide on what scheme to go with myself recently (normally play dark angels) and painted up test models in Angels of vengence and flesh tearers - apprecitate now how difficult red is to get looking right and you seem to have got it spot on :P if you are less keen on so much red you could do flesh eaters instead (have a look at chaplain Desmondus's stuff - its awesome linky) also - website Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/183845-flesh-tearers/#findComment-2173656 Share on other sites
Gerrie
Simple but solid. Great work on the red, you managed a very smooth and opaque look on the armor. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/183845-flesh-tearers/#findComment-2173670 Share on other sites
RogueTrooper
He looks really good, the red looks almost like the GW version. I personally prefer the darker red on FT's and perhaps abit of weathering/battle damage might add more flavour. As is, he looks great. Melchiah - is that name from the soul reaver game? Melchiah
Thanks for the comments... Need to do alot more work as he's the test model for my Flesh Tearers, and battle damage is on the agenda, kinda want them to have a realistic, well worn look that reflects the Chapter, and agree he's a bit clean cut so far... Straight from the Adeptus show rooms on Mars!! -RogueTrooper, Ah, yup, is indeed from the Soul Reaver games, loved that series! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/183845-flesh-tearers/#findComment-2179185 Share on other sites
Melchiah
Morning folks! Finally got a little more work done on my Flesh Tearer assault Termies... Here's some more work on the fella already seen: http://i1019.photobucket.com/albums/af317/MattCaine/Terminator03.jpg http://i1019.photobucket.com/albums/af317/MattCaine/Terminator02.jpg And some more WIP's: http://i1019.photobucket.com/albums/af317/MattCaine/Terminator1DEC3.jpg http://i1019.photobucket.com/albums/af317/MattCaine/Terminator2DEC3.jpg http://i1019.photobucket.com/albums/af317/MattCaine/Terminator3DEC3.jpg And a very awful group shot: http://i1019.photobucket.com/albums/af317/MattCaine/Terminatorgroup.jpg As usual, I seem to have a massive blind-spot when it comes to Mold lines and flash. Rarr! :) C&C Always welcome. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/183845-flesh-tearers/#findComment-2202343 Share on other sites
Rob_Loken
Looking really nice there mate. The red is smooth and choice of eye colour is nice. Good job on the white too. ( I hate doing white). Melchiah
Another quick update on my Flesh Tearers in TDA: http://i1019.photobucket.com/albums/af317/MattCaine/TDA01.jpg http://i1019.photobucket.com/albums/af317/MattCaine/TDA03.jpg http://i1019.photobucket.com/albums/af317/MattCaine/TDA02.jpg Progress is a little slow at the moment, but quite pleased with how they're shaping up... These guy's are basically test pieces for a few different techniques, aiming for table top quality, with the aim of finally having a painted army to game with! So, trying to ignore the new Space Wolves kits as much as possible!! C&C Welcomed as always. cathar the great
All very nice, though the middle one is my favourite. Though the mold lines on the hammers need some radical surgery.. The Damned
Nice smooth style you got. Will you be adding black saw tooth patterns that are commonly found on Flesh Tearers? Melchiah
Just a teeny-tiny update... Started work on a Tactical squad for my Flesh Tearers... And what with the new Blood Angels Dex and models coming out, really need to get my arse in gear! http://i1019.photobucket.com/albums/af317/MattCaine/Sargeant001.jpg Gotta new job, and just not finding enough time for the toy men! *Sigh* Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/183845-flesh-tearers/#findComment-2325077 Share on other sites
lord gunthar
I really like your painting style, your lines are so crisp and clear, all your marines look like they just came off the assembly line ( in a good way ). They are not exactly painted to a high standard but they are excellent considering that you havnt painted in 3 years. Keep it up. Rob_Loken
Very nice sarge. My only crit would be to have the shouder trims black as well. Right now he looks like a Blood Angel sarge rather than a Flesh Tearer. But thats subjective so ignore me if you want. :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/183845-flesh-tearers/#findComment-2325215 Share on other sites
