SW Wolf Guard and Deepstriking

So here I am playing my SW in a doubles tourny at my LGS. I am 1 of 2 SW players in the tourny. So naturally I go over to talk to my wolf brother and discuss the codex and SW strats and so on. What I come to find out and the attitude towards it left a bad taste in me ale and I quickly moved back to my partner and ignored the SW for the rest of the day.

Apparently he was fielding 10 Wolfguard in TDA and DEEPSTRIKING them. According to this guy he is able to deepstrike because in nowhere in the codex does it say he can not. The blurb only says that SW (PREFER) not to teleport. Usually I dont care if someone metagames like this but his attitude towards it just rubbed me the wrong way.

How do you all feel about this?

the WG do NOT have deep strike as an option to them like the LS does.

There is no where written in the TDA stats that it has a build in teleporter

It has in the SM dex but nothing in the SW dex, As long as he cant show you a line like on page 102 of the SW dex thats just a no go

There is even a NB next to the text that they dont, The whole stats of the TDA is the same in both books except the teleport part.

As was my reply and as the discussion got heated is when I walked away and said whatever. In retrospect my team placed second as I was with IG and he placed 7 or so. I am in agreement with what you gentlemen said concerning the TDA and the rules therefore.

As has been said....for something to have a rule it has to SAY it has the rule. For example, Landspeeders have the Deep Strike rule noted in their description page. Skyclaws have the Deep Strike rule cause in C:SW it tells you to use the rule for Jump Packs from out of the main rulebook. Regular SMs get Deep Strike cause it specifically gives TDA the rule in the C:SM.

However, in the TDA section of the Space Wolf Codex it does NOT give Space Wolf TDA Deep Strike nor does it mention to look anywhere else for additional information. Hence, Space Wolves who wear TDA do not get to Deep Strike.

I am disappointed by his behavior, although I'm willing to bet he is a "Flavor of the Month" kind of player.

we're like, 7 points or something cheaper and get power weapons instead. Honestly, I like having initiative 4 a lot more then 1.

where did you see this?

both the WL from CSW and the CM and Capt from CSM both pay 40 points for termie armor, both coming with PS and SB. the only differences is the WC vs LC (but both cost the same) and us having a FB instead of the RB.

Our WG TDA IS 33pts as opposed to 40, and we drop PFs for PWs.

Anyways- no. NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!

KHAAAAAANNNNN!!

No Deepstriking wolf gaurd outside of a Drop Pod or equiped with jump packs. No.

Save it for planetstrike.
