The emperors chosen
Hi guts, a quick question, Does word of the emperor work on units that are Fearless? Because I had used it on a Black Templar unit charging my Inquisitor, and my opponent said that it wouldn't effect them. (I lost that game...) Thanks in advance! Chengar Qordath
Word of the Emperor requires a Leadership test, while the Fearless USR only applies to Morale and Pinning tests. Word of Emperor should require a test from Fearless units. Reclusiarch Darius
Its still pretty pointless though, as most units in 40k have one or more of the following; - Ld9/10 - Re-rolls - Auto-pass Leadership (Synapse) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/183936-word-of-the-emperor/#findComment-2174571 Share on other sites
KhorneHunter57x
Kroot are only LD7. <_< But yeah, most assault-specialized stuff has LD 9 or 10. Still, a roll at LD 10 has a chance to fail. Brother Swas
For added fun, try moving the Soulless Assassin nearby after passing the psychic test. Since you're all fearless, you'll rarely care, but it will force the enemy to make leadership 7 tests to assault you when combined with Word of the Emperor. Skyhawk
This power should really force the opponent to roll 3d6 for that Ld test to have any medicore effectivness like the old Dark Angels power "Fear of the Darkness"... I can dream, can't I? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/183936-word-of-the-emperor/#findComment-2174994 Share on other sites
silversmith82
It'd be too busted then. IMO it is meant to be used in conjunction with the Culexus which really makes it shine. Brother Swas
Ah, only problem is it is cast in the opponent's assault phase, meaning you're going to have to do something wacky or have your assassin out in front of your squad by 13" to NOT be leadership 7 for the psychic test. Makes it a bit less reliable to cast. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/183936-word-of-the-emperor/#findComment-2175811 Share on other sites
Reclusiarch Darius
Mind you, it's still a cool power. It's basically the Inquisitor going 'f$%k off' ;) . Try using a Psyker Battle squad with it (by allying him into an IG army). They 'Weaken Resolve', he tells that enemy assault squad to please be quiet and go away, you don't get charged. Thing is, it doesn't change the fact the retinue has the staying power of wet tissue paper. I'd still use a firebase Lord if he managed to live through any of my games...sigh. Makes the unit a bit tougher to crack. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/183936-word-of-the-emperor/#findComment-2175968 Share on other sites
